I don't see what slamming the tuner is going to achieve. No one except the original poster and the tuner were there when the car was being tuned and they are the only ones who knows what really went on. This could have easily been a design problem with the engine that the tuner could not have anticipated. Even though the evidence currently points to errors by the tuner, we do not know for a fact that this is the case.

I agree with the OP's retraction.

the OP asked for opinions, and posted maps ect.

and were all saying its the most likely the tuners fault, and also its been pointed out that he has blown multiple motors while tuning,

all 4 pistons melt? thats sure as hell not a design problem.

Like i said, the only reason he retracted was either the tuner threatened him with something, or offered to pay for something.

i asked the tuner if he jump the jumper wire to check the timing and he said that it doen't need to be jump cuz we are not using a stock ecu is he right or wrong?

We get cars in all the time for tunes, that were either E-Tuned or tuned by some "tuner" from so and so shop or whatever and they are already toast.. I can't tell you how many people I've had to turn away because their motor was already hurt when they got there.. Most of these guys go for the "cheaper" tuning solution and endup paying more in the long run.. I hope you get your motor back together..

Ok well whatever.. At this point what is the purpose of the thread? People have given their opinions in regards to your situation.. All the sudden you come into the thread and cover your tuners *** with blah blah blah. So really why does this thread still exist? Why the **** would you sell your sleeved block for a stock one? Why not build the motor one more time and take it to someone who knows what the **** their doing?

Hi guys n girls, first post! Tazzie from over at prelude*****.com! I realise this thread is a bit old now, just came across it whilst lookin around! Thought id register an account and add my 2c worth! Jeez, id hate too be that tuner, i got to say, people bagging him out without in my opinion any evidence he did anything wrong here! An internet wide story like this could destroy someones business or even get them seriously messed up! No, i dont even know this guy, im from aussie, other side of the world!
Here is what i reckon has happened based on what ive seen and read,

Problem 1, he used the wrong size head gasket initially causing pre-ignition due to the hot edge where it was protuding into the bore, it may even been tapped by the piston a few thousand times!

problem 2, Major oil consumption, the pre ignition may have cracked the ring lands, and as a result began burning oil, but more likely there was excessive piston-bore clearance, excessive ring end gap, problem with the head or breather system or a leaky turbo.

Either way, it is this oil consumption that has caused this engine to melt down, not too much timing, hot carbon causing pre-ignition, oil reducing octane of mixture, and basically blowtorching the pistons.

It may have even been a design fault with the pistons, forged pistons have a bad tendency of uneven expansion as they heat up if they are not engineered correctly or beaten on when cold, close up pics may show more clues here.

Also how much quench clearance were you running?

Id be more inclined to blame the engine vs the tune, and i think the damage was probably already done from the headgasket incident, wasnt correctly diagosed and snowballed from there.

Anyways just my opinion.
Gday to all! Hope you fixed ya engine!
Cheers

I will not tune a car with all that wrong with it. If a car is heating or smoking i tell them the car has to be sound before i will tune it. i dont try to sound like *** but i tell them what needs to be fixed.
