JDM B18c + GT28rs, how much whp?
Hi!
I have a JDM B18C type r in my civic EK. I have just mounted a Full-race Road race stag 1 turbo kit with a Garrett GT28RS .82 a/r.
The only/best fuel I can get is 98 octan. The compression is 11.1:1. How much whp can I run safe? The car will see a couple of trackdays.
How it's look like. Chargepipe is already installed.

Thanks for the replays guys!
Well, the fuel I can get here in Norway is 95 and 98 octan and E85 a couple of places. I have to drive like 300km to the nearest fuelstation to get E85.
I have talked to two different tuners here in Norway. One of them said that I only can run 4-5psi safe without detonation and get around 240hp. The other one, which I think I'll use said that 260-270whp would not be a problem. He wasn't sure. He recommended to start with 260-270whp.

I'll let the Shodan shine in on this. With 98 octane you should be able to get over 300 easy if we can do it at 91/93 you should be able to as well.

yea so it's basically the same stuff we get here (ron+mon/2) method for octane
that turbo should be so much fun on the street... and very responsive for mountain driving and road course action (Don't forget about Gatebil )

I was trying to figure this out a few years ago when i built a b18c4 turbo, Im in the UK and we use RON for rating fuel grades too. Have a read of the link below, It has alot of the common fuels from around the world including different brands.
We have a supermarket fuel that is 99RON now which is quite good from TESCO. Not much e85 at all in the UK.

Yea for the open track days it is... We mostly do drifting stuff at Gatebil... Still a fun track, but I have seen videos were they let multiple cars on track, it's a bit scary when slow cars go out with supercars lol

I made an honest 300whp @11psi on a mainline dyno which reads low as hell. Its a fun car. The GT turbo's are either at no boost or full boost, they come on quick.

You could probably use that turbo to it's full potential (the limit) as long as you have a rock solid tune... a water/meth injection system wouldn't hurt to use, this means you can make that power safely, reliably, and consistently while using high octane pump gas

He can do all of the above on 91 Octane. I don't know how much experience you have had with water/meth injection but I have had experience with the Snow, AEM, and AFM kit and they all had issues that made them less than reliable.

I'm not going to be using a "shelf" methanol kit because most of them have ****, low pressure pumps.
The reason 99% of people have issues with water/meth is because they use a kit with a low pressure pump that was never designed for water/meth use AND they use shitty nozzles that don't atomize the mixture properly.
Water/Meth has to be very finely atomized, most common nozzles don't atomize that well and will actually produce large droplets

I was hoping to get full potential from the turbo, but after some readings on tuning I'm a bit unsure.
I have already been adviced on the water/meth, but i don't really what. Is there any bulletproof kit out there?
