how high is too high for turbo?
how high of compression can you have to safely run a turbo setup.
this is why i asked, i had a local shop rebuild my engine and here is a list of what the done:
bored (i believe it to be 1.95)
honed
eagle crank
aries 12:1 pistons
stock rods
port and polish
5-angle valve job
converted chambers
the only thing that i'm not happy with is that they talked me into getting those pistons and now i have a high compression non-vtec b18, but i want to work with what i've got and i want to turbo. is this possible?
if it is possible, it will be low boost and small turbo.

12.1 is not what id recommend for a turbo setup. Did u build this motor knowing that u wanted to put a turbo on or was it a mild all motor build at the time?
At this point, whats done is done and to make this motor a lil bit safer and more turbo friendly, Id sugest u replace the head gasket in an attemp to lower the compression.
What turbo do u intend to run? whats your whp goals?

at the time yes, but i'm not impressed at all with the motor and my previous goal was to turbo. the reason why i went with the Ls in the first place. btw, the shop the did the build were the ones that talked me into that setup.

noted, thicker headgasket. small turbo, most likely t25. goal will be around 225 to 250.

Tony the Tiger thinks that 12.xx compression is just dandy for turbo. Along with ITBs, no less. It's all in the tuning, gents, it's all in the tuning.

add some water/meth injection to the set up and you should be fine to run 10 PSI or more depending on the tune. but yes you can turbo with that compression but it just means your gonna have to be extra safe and run high octane gas in it all the time along with water/meth.
