Default high compression low boost

well i was boosted but blew it up and went all motor ..now regretting my decision

so.. what i have right now

b16 head p&p stock cams ..arp studs..
b18c block with pr3 pistons and ls crank and rods
the rods are shotpenned with arp bolts
s2 im
s2 68mm tb
rc550s
3in exh
s300

so right now my compression is 11.65:1
thinking of going with a small turbo like a 50trim

this is my only car that i have to drive everyday

so with that kind of compression .. i know i need to keep my boost low, was thinking between 4 and 7psi?

also with that bottom end what kind of power would it hold up to? (everyday) 275-300whp?

are my power goals and boost levels about right?

oooor should i put a buddy club 2mm hg on it which would drop it to 10.18:1?

High compression with a turbo would = more eff at lower boost levels.. do it.. you'll enjoy it.
10-12psi should be Awesome at that setup.

Do it as long as it gets tuned. Let us know how that goes. In for results. I will be doing the same thing myself.

Depending upon turbocharger size. Golden rule of turbo.. never ever, EVER list a boost pressure level without knowing which turbo you plan to use..

You know i know that.. he listed he wanted to go with a 50trim..

50 trim turbo on 10-12psi should yield him great results.

No, that is a bad ideal.

yea no questions getting it tuned

so 10-12psi on 93 pump at 11.6 would be a good amount for a everyday driver?

A good tuner will know what AFR the car will like.. and the ign as well. Getting opinions on a forum wont do squat, take it to a reputable tuner and trust him.

Talk about an awesome powerband.... yeah your train of thought sounds good, the biggest key for you is to get incontact with a top notch tuner... jeff evans, tony1... etc. with high compression your going to need to be careful with the fuel you use, as one bad tank of gas could be very bad. Your tuner can compensate a little for this, so again source out a great tuner and take it from there.

Planning on doing the same on my LSvtec that has pr3 pistons and pro 1 and going with an 18g from my bro's DSM. Going with E85 since the head was redone .005 and block .005. I think that puts it in the 12's compression, hope everything goes well.

Thicker head gasket? That will drop it down to safer levels, yes it can be done, but should it??

High compression turbo setups are the thing..

All this low compression stuff that requires all this boost is just unreal..

I'd rather have some dick on low/midrange then nothing before the turbo spools..

A 10.5-11.0 CR setup with a mid sized turbo @ 10-15psi would dominate as a daily.

And for the last time, i dunno why everyone keeps saying its in the tune. ITS ALWAYS been in the tune, people just figuring this out?? Tuning was always the key.. period.

sell the pro1s if you are going with an 18g. that is not going to work well at all.

you need to go back to a GS-R camshaft in order to do this.

Well it seems like we always have to reiterate this b/c people continue to try and tune it themselves and motor goes boom.... not trying to beat a dead horse, but especially with a high compression motor this is especially key since you cant get away with much, even a bad tank of gas could move the knock threshold.

I can attest to this my car is fun as hell on only 9psi and it's just a puny b16, my only gripe is running E85 it works but it's kind of a hassle to go outta my way to get it. Thinking of switching back to 93 pump could I get away on pump gas with 11:9:1 CR on low boost? just a stock b16 with ctr replica pistons in it, and itr cams.

I hate ctr pistons.. but thats for another day..

You can get away with that, fine, as long as you're tuner can tune a car lol..

yeah this motor was suppose to be a daily drive budget build all motor block but boost slowly got into the equation a year later, cause all motor b16's are bleeehh! thanks, yeah my tuner def knows what he is doing!

The compression isn't as much as a concern as the shape of the piston. Just make sure you tune it to where you don't have a lot of heat in the cylinder and you should be good.
