cxracing intercooler or godspeed intercooler?
im trying to decide which intercooler i should purchase that best suits my goals.
its going to be on a stock b18b1 engine with a t3/t4 .48ar turbonetics turbo. looking to boost around 14psi or power goals are 200-250hp. doing a low budget build(college student).
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/turbo...#ht_3252wt_992
this one is from godspeed. bar and plate design. 24x6x2.5
or
cxracing 19x6x2.5 tube and fin
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CXRac...item5ada84d721
im really looking forward on the cxracing because im thinking it will be sufficient and i like the fact that it isnt long so i can run a semi backdoor if i wanted too. price is the same $130 roughly. let me know what you guys think about these 2 intercoolers. thanks!

CXracing makes a nice Bar and Plate intercooler! Just make sure it's Bar and Plate and you'll be fine!

I recall someone recently used a fairly narrow but tall&thick ebay fmic to hit either 400 or 500hp with an LS. It was a very basic setup too, IIRC.
Just keep in mind, with a not-huge FMIC like that, wider will help with cooling, but also cause a slight restriction. In most cases I say go wide for looks and pressure drop won't be noticable. It's one of the *very* few cases I sway towards form over function.

With all these Ebay intercoolers out there, some of them actually leaks right from the factory. Be smart and pressure test all intercoolers before installing them. They do break sometimes even just staring at them at a funny angle, or after sneezing at them.

Re: cxracing intercooler or godspeed intercooler?
thanks everyone for the quick and generous replies.
im really looking toward the cxracing intercooler for its small size, i can run a semi backdoor if i wanted to, and i dont want to cut alot out of my grill even though it already has a slight trim on it.
but do you guys think it will be sufficient for my power goals?
im worried about heat soak also but im thinking it should be fine because its going to be front mounted.
my power goals are only 14psi or 200hp. whichever comes first.
any input is greatly appreciated.

Im running a Mishimoto Z line (smallest) and have not had any problems. The mounting bolts on both sides arent in the same place, but other than that, works great!
Look how many fins per inch u have, the more fins, the better cooling. alot of the chinese knock offs are garbage and leak right out of the flimsy cardboard box.
Mishimoto also warranties if you get into an accident and damage it also. Try that with Ebay!

Yes it will be fine, intercoolers just don't stop working at a certain power levels, they become insufficient if anything, but for the numbers you're shooting for, you'll be fine.

Re: cxracing intercooler or godspeed intercooler?
for the power you want you could almost get away without an intercooler
just go with the one that fits best and known for less pressure loss
