Default Boostie 2012

New project for the year is coming together and have a few final pieces to decide on to finalize the build. I have no goals other than to have a well matched fun car. I have everything narrowed down except the cams and intake manifold, I haven't seen anyone make a decent attempt at making the BC3+ cams work. The 5858 is a 60+lb/min turbo and is on the edge of being able to take advantage of a "larger" cam. The BC3+ is a smaller version of the Pro1 which is one of the current big turbo cams of choice.

Stock Sleeve GSR

(Intake Manifold) Have Blox...... buy Victor?

3" DP
Precision 5858SP-BB
Full Race 22x8x3 Backdoor IC
2.5" charge piping
Tial 50mm BOV

Great set up.. i would go with the victor and itr cams but that depends on Ur power goals... With Ur compression its gonna make great power and I see Ur gonna use meth..

You'll be fine with the manifold you have now.

Like D-Rob said, the mani is good.
I would go with ID1000s instead of ID750s. This is a 500+ whp capable engine, the 750 will run out very quickly.

They will be alright if he uses the meth. Methanol injection is a secondary fuel, taking some load off the injectors.

Good setup, Choose the profile that best utilizes what you are trying to do. Being a turbo car, i suggest running a hybrid cam setup.. medium sized intake with a good sized exhaust.

ID1000's ordered just to be safe along with a 4Bar. Will likely be running the S2s1's after talking with Derrek (D-Rob) it seems like the logical choice for my goals. Morgan said the manifold will be shipping this week. Oil lines came from Go-Auto last week, I think all I have left to purchase is an exhaust.

Any advise on exhausts? VRS seems to be the best priced piping kit, but by the time I have all the parts for the system bought and welded together I could have bought a complete cat-back such as the skunk2 76mm megapower RR. The $120 eBay 3" is a bit tempting as well, I have a buddie who has one and has not had any issues.

Almost...... I ended up with the incorrect DP so it will be another week until its running.

Talking with Rocket about a set of M21's will likely be going with a set of those which is a CTR+ profile for the most part.

I personally have ITR cams, and i love them. I dont know about the BC3+ cams though. But id suggest ITR. They have been proven to make 800+ whp.

You don't need to "suggest" anything to NA, if anyone knows what they are doing, it's him.

Not true, I'm always open for suggestions.

Camshaft choices always haunt me because there are always more choices than information out there. One of the few cams that have been done back to back are the ITR and Pro1, which happen to be the 2 most popular choices. On the famous test ~60whp was picked up by switching to a Pro1 cam with a 35 lb/min turbo, while my turbo is a little bit smaller than that there has to be a compromise between the two choices with all of the options out there.

While I'm not looking to break any records I am looking to produce the most efficient combination I can.

Fixed. Your turbo is much capable of 58-60lbs/min.

Full-Race IC piping fits like ****....

I'd rather not cut the bumper.

May order new, any advise?

cut the piping to make it fit without bumper modification. looks like if u cut 4 inches off the end going to the intercooler it will be about where u want it, hard to tell from that angle.

I cut ~3" off the end that comes out of the IC to get the proper got with the turbo connected to the inlet. The length after the first bend I a bit too long an rather than have 2 bends it has 1 90 degree bend and it just sticks out too far.

u have no other bends left over that work. the kit i got also fit like **** i ended up having to use my old n/a cold air pipe to make it work cuz i used up all the bends, thats why i have it going from 2.5 to 3 inch. i u look at the motor shot in my garage you'll see what i mean. would full race take the kit back if u already cut it?

Well after a bunch of cutting I got things to fit, interesting how custom parts require "adjustment"

Still looking into cams...... I will likely leave the GSR cams in the engine until I can make a decision. Im waiting for some more information about the GSC cams, but it's nowhere to be found just yet.
