First of all let's look at the facts about engine building and tuning.
Who in there right mind is going to build an engine like this and take it for a spin on the butt dyno all the way to 9K. Is that really what you guy's at Blacktrax do, just build it and then say " hey lets go down the street and rev this thing to 9k " without even knowing what the a/f is or where the power band is.
And how are you going to post on your own site that it has more Tq from 3k to 9k when it hasnt been dyno'ed yet. Did your *** tell you how much Tq it made and where it made it compaired to the old setup.
The other thing I want to know is what tuner and builder would let thier customer take thier car with this kind of engine in it and not tune it before hand let alone give the keys to the customer and let him rev it past 9k, should have atleast set the rev limiter lower.
If the Rev limiter is set to 9k and he over reved it then what the hell was the rev limiter set too? 10k? By all means this sound like a bunch of crap. I dont think any tuner would let this kind of engine go to a customer without it being properly tuned and setup. And before you get back on here and try and tell us that he needed to break it in, we all know that you can go stright to the dyno and tune the car. So dont pull that card out. Hell you have a dynapak in house, it should have seen that before that cool butt dyno of yours. If your butt dyno is so great then why do you have the dynapak?
Only lasted 400 miles, and you are blaming it on the customer. Thats classic, sounds to me like you have no idea what problems people are having with the K series cranks these days do you. </TD></TR></TABLE>
I hate people like you.

I agree also.....Im sure BlackTrax had every intention of making sure the engine was safe before it left their shop. If a customer goes out and decides to step on the gas knowing that it is not tuned yet then the blame falls on him....... Im sure the engine will do great. I myself don't think it will be able to handle a 9000 RPM limit but I don't know the specifics of the engine to be able to tell.....Im sure in the next month or so we will see this engine on the dyno and the customer will be happy......

No point in arguing with someone who is obviously just trying to stir up drama.
Jei, if you are still reading the thread, PM me when you are going to tune that engine, I'd love to come down and hang out.

Re: BlackTrax K24 Turbo... (skunked)
Hey everyone!! This is Natalie.
I just wanted to say thanks to Dave, Ben, Jeremey and everyone else for the great comments! its a good feeling to see/hear things, especially when were stuck in the shop bubble and dont get out much .
ChopSuey: i think dave (sharkcohen) said it best about replying. Anyone that knows Jei knows that working on customers cars is first priority. between the two of us we have 10 cars that are all half done...including the blacktrax race car. Hes a self proclaimed work-a-holic. He hardly ever sits down to read the forums let alone post and argue senslessly. I do most of that so imma take over from here.
D16A6_HF: About the CAI question. Its basically the same principle as any other car with a CAI. The GReddy kit puts the filter in a bad place where it draws in air from the engine bay. So by relocating it it allows it to draw air from a cooler source. Both the WRX and GReddy turbos have seen gains....but obviously not as much as no filter....but when does anyone drive with the hood open and no filter on??
I will be sure to keep everyone updated on the progress of this project now that i know there is a lot of support and interest. Jeis working on the motor right now. and like he said we will be breaking it in this time around

I was only referring to why they would not want to continue replying to idiotic posts like NorCalAllMtr408's. I'm very interested in how this motor performs, too. I got to touch that motor.

Keep in mind that there's also a mechanical over-rev in which the actual wheel speed can spin the engine beyond the logical rev limiter built into the ECU. This happens when you go for a 3-4 upshift but accidentally go 3-2, or something like that. I've done that more than once -- true story
