Sorry for the dumb question, but if your eliminating the distributor, why not go coil-on-plug???

At least it's too complicated to immediately be the next bandwagon.

so basically what's the point of getting rid of the distributor and running this setup?

individual cyl timing

less moving parts to fail.

what would the advantage be to have individual cyl. timing?

sorry for all the questions, just trying to learn as much as possible.

these coil pack i'm running are way stronger than COP. they are the same coil packs and ignition system from Kenny Tran's 8 sec civic. you can run full boost 30+ psi on them and still run the gap .030 you will never have a misfire or ignition issue with this setup. if it can light a methanol mixture without a problem, gas is a piece of cake. they are a sequential spark system (4 ign outputs).

the coils are made by mercury marine and require a strong ignition system like an m&w, autronic 500R or motec cdi-8.

they aren't for individual cylinder timing. that is controlled by the ecu.

The point of a cam trigger like this is that it is less susceptible the RF noise, and ref/sync issues.
