Demon and datalogging? No issues, just questions.
I've never actually datalogged with a Honda before. Simply said. I'm used to purchasing O2 sensor controllers so that data can be uploaded into a graphical user interface using a high quality data acquisition program.
Thus, in order to use the Demon's capabilities of datalogging, will I simply NOT need a separate O2 sensor that is dedicated for this purpose, or will I have to simply plug the Demon in, configure the USB port using Moates' available driver download, and implement a tuning software? In other words, will I be viewing (through datalogging) the a/f ratio that the Honda ecu is seeing, or instead, will I be viewing the a/f ratio that a separate controller is seeing?
Okay, last question. I have an old Mac laptop laying around that I was considering using ONLY for this particular car, which has OSX 10.4'ish. I noticed that Neptune has a download for the Mac users and I once downloaded it back in the day, but never used it. I removed it to make room for other stuff. However, I will need to be able to use Moates' drivers on this particular Mac (or any computer for that matter). Will Moates' driver download work with a Mac? If so, how do I access/configure once I get it? I'm guessing not.
Thanks in advance. Shitty lineup of questions for sure, but I am confident that they can be answered.

The datalogging capability relies on what tuning software you go with. Let's use NepTune as an example since you're on a Mac. Once you've uploaded your base tune you'll have access to quite a few data points, live graphing, record, playback, and graphing of recorded data. The NepTune RTP software is free if you want to take a look at all of the items that are datalogged and there's even some older test datalogs on the download site (www.HRTuning.com/software)
If you want to datalog a wideband you will need a wideband sensor with controller. You can either get one that has a 0-5v output which you'll be able to hook up to one of four available analog inputs on the ECU or you can get a supported device by the software, such as an LC-1, that outputs a serial stream, get a USB to serial converter to hook directly up to the wideband, and datalog the air/fuel ratio directly from the unit itself.
The USB drivers for Windows and Mac are right on the NepTune software site. Once you install the drivers all you have to do is either select the correct port or turn on auto-connect within the NepTune software preferences.
If you decide to go with another tuning software you'll have to use Parallels or some other PC emulating software to run windows (Or just get a windows laptop) and you won't get anywhere close to this level of support. Good luck on your hunt.

Re: Demon and datalogging? No issues, just questions.
Seems really simple after reading your post. Let's say that I go the LC-1 (serial to USB cable) option. While communicating with the Demon via USB, this ultimately means that i'll have two USB cables attached to my laptop at the same time? If so, that's no prob, but just making sure i'm not confusing this. Seems simple. So with Neptune up and running, i'll have to assign both USB ports (one to the Demon, and the other to the LC-1)?

Yes and yes, kind of. There's is auto-connect for the Demon. Not for the LC-1. I'd check out the software at the link I posted above.
