I have a auto 93 civic 4dr lx I picked up for with a blown engine. I dropped in a d16y7 and been driven it for the last two years. I have a d16z6 manual trans I plain on putting in the car, because I miss driven a 5 speed and want to try to pick up better gas mileage. I looked in to converting the ecu to a manual and my question is being that the baseline program is for the 15 and I have a 16 can I remove the 16 baseline off of the d16y7 ecu I have and install it in the p06 ecu or should I just get a eprom chip and have my local shop install a stock p28 baseline with no vtec? thanks for your help.

You can't remove the data from an obd2 ecu.
You can run the y7 on a p06 map, however it's not going to be exactly what the engine was designed for.

Another thing to consider is the fact that your y7 wants to use a 3 wire idle air control valve on the stock intake manifold.

I forgot to mention that I put the d15b7 intake on the y7, so it should be fine, right? I mean it runs good now, I was just wondering if the map for a 16 would help. I have a z6 intake and throttle body I was going to install, but It's the same size as the b7 intake and throttle body.

"15, 16"? You mean 1.5, 1.6? That threw me off for a bit. No, it's not going to matter whether you run a P06 or a P28. They're both going to seem to run good. The P28 will throw VTEC codes.

But the calibration between the OBD1 and OBD2 D-series engines is radically different. The OBD2 heads are much more efficient and make power in lower RPMs than the OBD1 engines. So the ignition timing advance is much less and the VE table peaks lower. What this amounts to is that your engine will run fine but the tune is not optimal. Power and economy will be less than the stock motor with the stock ECU.

So in short, the difference in the calibrations between the P06 and P28 is much less* than the difference between them both and the OBD2 ECUs.

*since VTEC is not a factor in the case of your D16Y7

One more question If I put a eprom chip in my p06 and use chrome (or some other program) can I program the stock y7 baseline? Or are you saying it won't because of being obd2?
