P73 piston safety vs Nippon?
Rebuilding my gsr block
Machine shop said they carry safety p73 piston but can order Nippon p73 if I want.
Also going .5mm/.020 over, if that matters
Also NPR or Hastings rings?
Please put your input thanks

Re: P73 piston safety vs Nippon?
I haven't herd of 'Safety' pistons before so no input on those. I have used NPR pistons many times as well as YCP with great luck. NPR's usually measure very consistent and they offer them with coated skirts in a lot of cases.
I have used both NPR and Hastings rings and have had luck with both of them. If I have a choice I normally get Hastings Rings but that's just a preference and not really based off of a quality issue with NPR.

I run the RS machine Pistons which I am 99% sure are made by Safety. The Pistons work well but I did measure the holes in the oil scraper groove to be undersize compared to oem. I drilled them so it was perfect match to OE piston. They have worked well for me at 81.5, 82 and 84mm bores many times.
