The idea behind the manifold was to get as much runner length as possible for max high rpm efficiency and reduced reversion. We also wanted to try something different than the proven forward facing layout we've been using for the last few years.

The car is being built with Vibrant Performance fabrication components to showcase their awesome product line. Skunk2 suspension & engine components will be used throughout as well. It is going to be running a MoTec M800 and 8x Grams 2200cc injectors on FTW Purple, and we'll be doing some testing with the new Borg Warner 72mm units.

We hope to run consistently in the 8's @ 175+mph for starters.
Thats what I like to hear, trying something different. Nice to see you guys trying to shake up the sport and continue to stand out. Sounds like a solid build from beginning to end and your 8 second @ 175+mph goal should be no problem with your experiences!!!

Ive always thought too thick of a core would follow bigger is not always better, seems like there would be an increased resistance of flow and the by the time the air got towards the outlet of the cooler the air will have become heat saturated reducing actual cooling capacity compared to a core with a bigger face and less thickness. But im sure you guys have done testing in this design, and its good enough for your needs.

Closed front is the plan yes. The short dual core IC setup allowed for the long runners and fitment of everything as we wanted as well.

24.5" SFWD/FWD car, but not saying it won't ever have 26's on it either.

We aren't concerned with airflow through the face of the core - it's a drag car. Front will be closed anyways. We want the core to be low pressure drop more than anything.

I was wondering what you guys were gonna do about the inlet of the turbo. I like the idea though, everything is looking good.

Amazing build as always from the speedfactory camp. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Do you have anymore info on the new 72mm from BW? I've been hearing rumours about it, but this is the first one I've seen. Has it been released yet?

I've been running this turbo since Oct. I went 172mph (Cast) with it on the 2nd pass. I have yet to dial in the car with this turbo. I believe Full-Race has had them for some time now. Paul at DP went 176mph with this turbo aswell. Its a great unit.

This thing makes a lot of power on a lot less boost....

Ah ok, thanks for the info. Not meaning to derail the thread, but For some reason I was expecting the FMW 72mm to be like the new billet FMW 67mm.

Are you worried about the strength of that frame rail at all? Seems like a big chunk missing from a important part of a fwd car?

anything forward of where the engine mounts is just along for the ride and not "important"

What are you doing to prevent the long manifold runners from radiating the intercooler? seems they are sitting 1/2 from the core. any type of heat shielding?

Everything is going to be alright guys. Stop over analyzing the manifold near intercooler deal.
