took the Hotrod's to Atco : Tuner Showdown 5-31-09 *2nd video added
as for our day today. it was awsome, i could not have did what i did today, with out my friend Steve Merman ! i just started building the engine for my car last weekend, had it in on monday night, got it running on thursday, had a bunch of odd and end things to take care of. i was still finishing up the car on saturday. Steve was nice enough to let me use some of his equipment, as well as take a few hours out of his days to help me out when i needed it most. Thanks Bud !
i also want to thank Darren Barone, his GF Megan R, and Jamaican Dave for helping us out at the track today, without you all, we would have never been able to run both cars.
so we get to the track today, it was raining & we were procrastinating about unloading the cars. haha. so finally it stops raining, we unload the cars, get em running, ETC. i go to tech in. when i get to the tech line, i notice a bearing out of a drive assembly is missing, so i had a good guy(Jamaican Dave) go find it for me, while i got the car tech'd in (i lost it from my pit to the tech line) .... so i go back to the pit, take the plate off the drive assembly, turn it around, and put it on the other way, so the bearing cannot come back off (its got a shoulder to hold the bearing on) in the process of doing this, the mag drive belt must have skipped a tooth,..... fast forward to the staging lanes...... i get all the way up to the gate, where the staging lanes end, and the little hill begins, that leads down to the burnout box..... start the car, and its taking forever and a day to start, when it finally runs, its only reving out to 3k, and sounds like its on a 2-step.... ***..... so we all help Steve make his 1st pass, went well, although the car is blazing the 28's off about halfway down the track, and getting all kinds of squirly, hes got big *****, stays in it and rips an 8.786 @ 169... after we watched his pass, we turn my car around in the staging lanes, tow it back to the pit, where i proceed to properly phase the magneto, and then return to the end of the q16 line (there were that many cars)..... it took a good 10 minutes for me to fix the issue, not to mention all the cars they had to get off.
so .... we head back for the staging lanes, the car wont start, apparently the battery is weak... we pop start the car in the lanes, haha .. Thanks fella's ! we then head to the burnout box, proceed to do a weak *** burnout. back the car up... get wheelie bar adjusted. etc... get up to the lights.... (im still flusterd @ the tree) stage up, lay it on the launch limiter, and then look down and realize ( or so i thought) i was not in 1st gear, so i had to come back from the limiter, put it in 1st, and try again.. lol. my reaction time was like 4.6 seconds HAHA... so i make the run... the car felt awsome to the 1/8 mile or maybe a little past, then it got a little weird, it felt like it wasnt pulling as hard as it was for the 1st 1/8... and it poped a few times... but apparently it was still good enough to run an 8.789 @ 161.2 .... when i was in the shut down area, i felt/heard something smack off the bottom of the car.... try to start it on the return road with no luck... i look down in there, apparently i lost the pulley for the mag drive setup. haha the belt was just hangin there, so we tow it back, take the front end off, look at it, proceed to get back onto the golf cart, go to the ems crew that sits on the return road, ask them if they found or seen anything on the track, they did find the outer hex piece but didnt find the pulley/bolt/2 washers... they then look back on the track with their binoculars, and find the pieces i was after, Awsome ! thanks a ton to those 2 ! we go back to the pit after kissing the EMS crews *** a few times, start to put the stuff back on, then someone relized that my charge pipe wg is damn near all the way off the charge pipe.... ugg. that was a brand new pipe on thursday. haha so i said F- it. i already had a super time, the car ran its *** off, and i was and still am filled with happiness because of it. i cant belive the car ran what it did, this was with Joe @ Tempest Racing's tune from last year with a smaller/lower compression motor, and an intercooler. this year i stepped it up to about another point in compression, and 2.5mm bigger in bore size, as well as removed the intercooler. to top it off, i was running the 26x10's i have for this outlaw car im sleeping on. hahha
thanks again to everyone that made this possible for me !
.....as Steve said, ill probably go to bed tonight smiling at the ceiling, this was so awsome, and so un-expected. i never thought the car was going to do anything remotely cose to what it did today, the pass honestly didnt feel to good after the 1/8 mile mark...

Re: Atco Raceway : tuner showdown 5-31-09
thanks everyone ! i actually did catch myself smiling at the ceiling last night, haha
Byron- it is awsome to have the car back together, i guess you could say i was jealous of Steve having his car running, which lit a fire under my *** (something about the sound of the car, and the smell of the Alcohol, gets me off ! ) the cars just sound amazing
Tepid- it is my "hotrod" car on 26's
Miller- thanks, and you right, the Hotrod class isnt "dead" persay, its just a matter of getting all of the cars at the same event. Today there was 4 cars there that could have run "Hotrod" Sandra Thomas/Shawn Brown's DSM, the black crx from RPM NYC, and our cars (Steve and I) i can only hope to see more of the cars out there, such as the orange teg (i think they from jersey someplace) and Micheal Brown with his hotrod DA integra.. there are probably another 5 cars that are in our local area that we arent thinking about or knowing about.
turbohybridlude- haha, yea, im with ya bro, Steves got big *****. now if we could get it to lay all that down and go straight down the lane we'd be in business.!
Bart- you right bro, the locals that pretty much run atco all the time know what to expect, as far as what the track is capable of holding, and like anyone should, you adjust for the track conditions.. as for me, i just got lucky to have the car hook like it did. i changed the boost controller all around, while sitting in my garage one night.
i cant wait to see the video's of the cars.

Congrats again Dave! that was long due for something to come thru for you.. i think i was more excited to see that then you were haha
after all the BS that you have gone thru with that car, it truly paid off. putting the car together in no time, and going soo unprepared (to say the least). I told you before you ran it, that, that would be the day that anyones car amazes them, and that deffinitely came true! glad i could be there to see it..
now go faster haha
