I vote leave rules as they are, but fuel list needs to spread wider since technology has progressed. Vp, Torco, Sunoco,Ignite and Rocket.......Yes leave Nitro on band list.
Done.

I'd say drop the minimum weigth to 2200lbs for the outlaw class if it helps stop granading the trannies. I think this is one of the biggest problems in the class besides other options to make the power output "safer".

Re: Outlaw in 2012???
There should be a big enough difference between the class where you cant just switch tires and expect to be competitive, let alone leaving in in sfwd trim and racing. Theres almost no point in the class anymore. The "OUTLAW" race is a joke to me. My new car is almost done and it was build in the spirit of an actually outlaw class. Im happy with just racing ifo and mir then arguing on here for hours about rules that will in the long run end up costing you less money from broken parts.

Re: Outlaw in 2012???
That is the major problem. There are really no Outlaw races outside of this one. So you build a purpose built Outlaw car only to be able to race 1-2 events a year. Im all for more separation in the classes but the lack of races for the outlaw class is the limiting factor. Your stuck with a choice build a SFWD car and try Outlaw or build an Outlaw car only to be out a few times. Even though it sounds like the easy answer is make more Outlaw races, but are there enough cars that would actually show up for them. Its hard enough with 1 really hyped up event a year.

2nd mortgages for everyone! LOL
just make outlaw a 76mm class. then you can really play.
I don't race "sfwd" since its really just an etown thing if you think about it, but i would say a 67mm cap would not be a bad thing....I follow the IFO rules more than anything because there are 30 of those, and usually 5 of just IFO races a year within an easily trekked distance from me. Make it whatever you wan't...ill just conform. I can see a 67mm/24.5" cap in the "near future" across the board in the near future though for sfwd/ifo fwd.

Re: Outlaw in 2012???
Ok. How many outlaw races did those guys attend? how many outlaw races will they attend? imo again, i just dont think theres enough cars that will consistently make it to make "Outlaw" a class that can be ran throughout the nation. like i said, getting car count up should be priority instead of completely flipping the rules of outlaw.

Re: Outlaw in 2012???
Just for conversation, what if there were 2,3 or 4 "Outlaw Races" every year? They could be piggy backed on IFO, NSCRA, BOTI or anything else that is out there. Have one at E Town, Las Vegas, Texas and one other spot. Do a points series with an extra cash prize at the end of the year for the points winner.
The problem is there is no organization that makes the rules, enforces the rules and spends the time needed to make something like this successful. Sponsors are who spend the money to get the big racers to the races. They help with the cash prizes or parts given out at the events. From that you get the people in the stands that want to see the racers run and that is what makes a race successful or not.

Re: Outlaw in 2012???
We have been allowing Outlaw style cars in FWD all year, all over the country, every other week. Yet they still only make up about 5-10% of the field.
It's not because they don't have a place to race.

$1k to winner, $400 to r/u, $100 to semis is more than racers will get anywhere else racing for $25 with only 8 or many times less in the field.

Re: Outlaw in 2012???
No, it's because they're down. Every OL car that is up and running competes at an IFO that is in their area. To have an OL FWD and not run at your area IFO because it's only $1600 payout to top four makes no sense.

Re: Outlaw in 2012???
I am being realistic, its the job of the event organizer to figure out how to make those numbers work. There are lots of ways to raise the money needed to have those types of payouts, some of that could be from tech cards and some guaranteed money from event sponsors.
My point is that if there is more incentive to win you will get more racers and fans at those races.

Re: Outlaw in 2012???
I'd say we have figured things out as best as we can for the Import drag community on a national level. It's not as easy as the general public may think. Just ask the looong list of others who have tried a national series and gone bust doing so.
