Help with launching please!
Hey guys, I just took my boosted 95 integra to the drags for the 1st time. I have 375whp with Work RSZ-R 16x7 rims and Falken Azenis 215-45-16 street tires. My best time was my first run on a freshly prepped track at 13.29 with a 2.3 60ft, 113mph, and shifting early in 1st and 2nd gear not to break traction. My next 3 runs had major wheel hop and was afraid i was going to break an axle (over 14sec). Tried preloading and launching at different rpms with same wheel hopping result. Would you guys recommend a traction bar and launch control? Stage 4 act clutch. I have Hondata s300 but have never used the launch control. I am saving for 15's with slicks when I up my hp to over 400. Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

No need for tubes. You will be better off searching the classifieds. Alot of people have complete slicks and wheel combo going for better prices than getting them separate. I would look into some MT 24.5x8-9x13.

Re: Help with launching please!
Drag radials are still going to hop. I have never broken an axle on slicks, On drag radials I have broken them like toothpicks. I have used almost every tire out there. All the times Ill post were with about 550whp
MT 235/60/15 ET street radials: Decent traction but still hops some. The best radial tire I have used. Best time: 11.9@125mph missing 3rd gear
BFG 235/60/15 Drag radials: Massive wheel hop, Traction sucked, Broke axles so bad it would twist the splines in the hub so a new axle wouldnt go in. Best time: 11.9@129mph Only got one good pass and broke 3 axles that weekend.
BFG 225/50/15: Decent tire, not as much axle breakage as the bigger BFG's but still never ran really well on them. 12.0@125mph with 400whp because I was out of gear in 4th giving it anymore power.
M&H 235/60/15 DOT: Awesome traction, bias ply so no wheel hop, on the street the tire felt less stable than radials but still not bad enough to worry me. Best time 11.7@130mph
M&H 24.5x8.5x15 slicks: 1.6 60fts consistantly no wheel hop at all even on the hardest non-preload launches. The best slicks I have ever used. Best time: 11.01@132mph
MT 24.5x8x13 slicks: good traction, no wheel hop, close to M&H but I just didnt like them as much. Consistant 1.7 60ft. Best time 11.3@132mph
That is my personal experience so you might like another tire better than I did and hate the ones I liked. It all comes down to driving style and what you are comfortable with.

Re: Help with launching please!
Awesome input guys, thanks! I have itr rotors so I have to go with a 15" wheel. Will the M&H 24.5x8.5x15 fit under my integra with rolled fenders with a 15x7 wheel with +37 offset? Or will I need to raise it? I have fully adjustable coilovers and its dropped about 1.5in right now, not super low.

Re: Help with launching please!
Good call, I'll remember to do that. Would 23" slicks be ok? On my current tires I am still in fourth gear through the finish and if possible, I don't want to be adjusting the suspension everytime I switch wheels. Also, is an alignment needed everytime I raise or lower the car?

Re: Help with launching please!
There is a prety cool gear ratio calculator that I found on functiontheory.com the direct link is
http://www.fatboyraceworks.com/gears...Graph&Compare=
if you haven't changed the gears at all you can just use one of the pre loaded transmissions from the drop down box, otherwise you'll have to input your gear ratios. then you can select different tire sizes to get the 1/4 mile mph you are looking for. it's a good tool.

Re: Help with launching please!
also if you don't want to invest in pair of slicks or drag radials right now you might have some luck by trying different tire pressures on your current tires. I run my toyo T1R's at 35lbs for daily driving and when I went to the track the first time I was pulling 2.4 - 2.5 60's with a bit of hop. Then I brought them down to 20lbs and was pulling 2.3 60's with no hop. This is with a stock gsr with over 230,000 miles though. Buy yourself a decent tire pressre guage and try a few different pressures.

Re: Help with launching please!
ok so 127mph with 23" slicks vs 136mph for 24.5" slicks
-GSR tranny and 8500 redline
Any suggestions? Probably just looking for low 11's or high 10's eventually when I put my old tune back on with 500whp

Re: Help with launching please!
You wont go 10's on a 23x7.5x15. You will need 24.5's. Just raise it to clear and leave it up. My car is WAY higher than stock and I think it looks mean

Re: Help with launching please!
There is a pic of my integra on the 235/60/15 BFG's from years ago. Those are 26.1" tall.
That is a pic of my hatch on 235/60/15 M&H. They are 25.4" tall
Both cars had 195/55/15's in the back

Re: Help with launching please!
ive made over 100 passes on bfg radials and had wheelhop about 4 times. if it happened i just got out of it before it broke something.
never really made awesome passes on them though, best was a 12.1 at 125 with a 1.9 60ft. 400ish hp.
they are definately my limiting factor, so i bought some slicks 24.5x8.5x15 on some slips. havent run them yet, season is pretty much ending up here in ny.
if you can, get the 24.5's, look around you can find them used already on wheels in good condition for around the price of 2 new tires not even mounted

Re: Help with launching please!
Find a set of 15x7 rota's and get 24.5x8.5x15 slicks and you will see huge drop in times. Also if you run on slicks set the launch control on the hondata. I will help

Re: Help with launching please!
Ya that's what I was planning on doing. I have a set of 15x7 bbs rs (15lbs) that I was planning on using for drag wheels, will they be ok to mount slicks on? Or are rota's lighter?
What RPM should I launch at?

Re: Help with launching please!
Those BBS's should work great and just mess with launching. It is all about how you drive. I started off at 6000rpm this year and slowly went up. I had it starting to get dialed in at my local track then went to a different track and that track wouldn't hold the power on those 6800rpm launches at all. What Im saying is it is a lot of trial and error
