build thread: IMPORT SPORTS STREET ALLMOTOR H2B
update page 7: dyno results
update page 5: custom intake and exhaust manifolds completed
update page 6: engine assembly and checking V2V, P2V, and degreeing cams
well i guess its time we posted a build thread to pick up where we left off last season.
the previous setup which put down 230whp/170wtq on Tempest's dynojet and went 11.71 @ 114mph w/ 159 60' was as follows:
jdm h22a
b16 trans w/ quaife lsd
skunk2 pro1 cams and valvetrain
euro r intake manifold
stock exhaust manifold
rc 550 saturated injectors
s300 tuned by Joe @ Tempest Racing
here is what the new build will consist of:
95mm h23 crankshaft new from honda
89mm cp pistons 13.5:1
carrillo a rods
acl bearings
skunk2 pro 3 cams and valvetrain
RLZ valvejob to run until RLZ ported head is completed
custom intake manifold fabbed by us here at Import Sports to be tested against other manifolds on the dyno
custom 4-1 header being fabbed by us as well
Exedy twin disk
those are the main points of the build. please keep in mind this is not an all out race build. we chose to stay w/ smaller displacement and compression to help me get through the season on a tight budget from a reliability standpoint.
that being said, we do still plan on breaking the 300whp mark w/ this build once the headwork is finalized. and we hope to reset the h series street allmotor record which stands at 10.9x. we will see how it plays out, but for now here are some pics of the progress we have made:
the engine bay recieved a makeover for 09'
before:
and after:
engine harness also recieved a makeover:
modified h22 intake manifold still in the fabrication process:
mock up of plenum which will place the tb above the hood line:
thats about all the pics we have for the moment, the block is sleeved and we are just waiting on the custom pistons to arrive. i will post some more pics as parts as we make more progress.

Damn you Randy, I hate you so much right now. I'll wager that thing will go 10's and 125mph+ easily. I definately want that pass you offered now! Can't wait to see her run.

thanks guys!
the master cylinder is the willwood kit from kens custom chassis. i simply removed the blue anodization from the plate, it clashed w/ my new glossy black paint
all brake lines were routed along the inside of the firewall to help cleanup the engine bay. and a simple chassis harness wire tuck was performed as well along w/ a battery relocation which will be performed at the same time the rollbar will be installed.

Good luck guys.
Did you guys shave the vin numbers on firewall? Man up here in ny that would not fly, autocrime would lose their marbles over something like that.

nah the vin is still there, its just hard to tell in the pics since everything is black.
we simply welded in all the holes then grinded everything smooth. i told the paint guy NOT to use any filler and to just scuff everything and paint it. its not show quality, but its more than adequate for a racecar.
i didnt want any filler in the engine bay or anywhere else on the car for that matter haha
next winter i will get some new fenders, bumpers and doors. then just remove the dings from the roof and quarters and have it all painted.

Re: build thread: IMPORT SPORTS STREET ALLMOTOR H2B
You should make the intake extend out of the hood and use a smaller version of a prostock hood scoop, that would be sick.

Re: build thread: IMPORT SPORTS STREET ALLMOTOR H2B
the mockup plenum places the 75mm edlebrock tb just above the hoodline. i have checked into prostock style scoops and so far all i have found are the harwood scoops measuring 40" long,18" wide and over 12" tall
im gonna keep searching but for now im not cutting the hood open until AFTER dyno tunning haha. of course im sure the real testing will be at the track since this thing is gonna flow a ton of volume at speed.
gonna test it against the euro r manifold which seems to limit powerband due to the small plenum. plus our manifold actually has 2" shorter runners than the euro r
