B16A Crankcase Evac Questions
Hello, I have a b16a that is going to be running a large shot of nitrous. I have come to the conclusion that the stock pcv system will not be adequate. Being that the car is Non-Turbo what would be the best approach to this.
What I would like to do is run the slashcut tubes in the exhaust for scaveging. I run an open header and will install the slashcut tube correctly toward the exit of the header.
I am unsure if I should run the tube from the slashcut fitting to the original black box on the back of the motor, or if I should remove it and plug the hole. Then remove the 2 hex bolts install the honda hose fittings on the back like the turbo guys do.
What does that black box do anyways? Factory catchcan?
Will I need some kind of check valve installed or possibly a catchcan? Also I dont want to suck oil out so do I need to run the hose up above the engine and then back down to prevent siphoning?
Hopefully you can understand my questions. I have already purchased the crankase evacuation kit with the slahcut tubes so I would prefer to go that route. I have included pictures for references purposes. The pictures were borrowed from other sources.

I am assuming I cant just run the hose strait from the slashcut to the black box?>?>?

throw the slash cut stuff in the trash dosent work all it does is let the pressure push oil into the header it will not pull any vacume. vent from the valve cover call it a day

They pull good vacume at high rpm. Unless your trying to run them with mufflers like most the people that have problems.

Re: B16A Crankcase Evac Questions
Ok so most high hp b series engines run 2 lines from the valve cover to the catch can. Then 2 lines from the can to the fittings in the back of the block as a drainback. is this correct?

Re: B16A Crankcase Evac Questions
I realize this is an old thread but i want to clear up some misconceptions i fought while venting the engine on my ls vtec dirt track car. dont vent off the back of the block, it doesnt work. all it does is push oil into your catch can or out on the ground. drill and tap the front of the valve cover behind the baffle, thread in heater pipe nipples, and run two 5/8" hoses from those nipples down to your pipes on the header. plug the hole in the block from the pcv black box and leave the oil return galley plugs in place. also dont vent to your header if you are running full exhaust, use a catch can (without a drainback) instead. the g forces of racing combined with crankcase pressures push a lot of oil around in the lower part of the engine.
