8.50 and slower roll cage!!!! JUNK.

Re: 8.50 and slower roll cage!!!! JUNK.
Ted Peters straight up came out and said he made a mistake. That's why this time there was no charge for him to come out this time. He said this one was on him. And for him to come out once it's fixed it's going to cost another $180.00. With that being said I will have almost 400 bucks alone tied up into trying to get the cage cert'd

Real funny thing is that they told me that they brought in some "new" guy to build the "new" cage. Where the chute is mounted, is the same as last time. Wasn't removed. What's funny is everybody has their own style of welding and the welds look exactly the same on the cage as the chute mount. AND I was out there one time and I met the guy that was doing the cage, he said "last time I did it". I think he slipped. I'm pretty sure they lied to me.
LOOKS LIKE A BLIND MAN ON A POGO STICK WELDED THAT **** IN. NICE JOB ONE-SIXX MILWAUKEE

Sorry to hear this Jamie. That really sucks. Hope you find somewhere with experience in building cages and get it done right.

I wouldn't waste anymore time or money. Just take them to court and get all your money back plus some money for your time.

Mig welding the floor plates in is acceptable, but not with those junk *** welds.
Man, I'd be so disheartened if I were in your shoes, not to mention pissed off. G/L. If you were here in Montucky I could point you in the right direction for who to go to (with several cages ALL passing cert the first go around) and to no surprise, because they look like they should - built by professionals.
Hopefully they do the right thing and just give you your money back. If not, I can see this driving them out of business.
EDIT: I just want to know who the F steps back from that job, looks at it and is pleased with their work? I'd be f'in embarrassed to have my name associated with that, let alone let it go out the door for the world to see...

Judging from all the pics you've posted I was gonna be more surprised if it passed the tech inspection than if it didn't.
Really sucks !!
What does the next shop do? how do you remove garbage base plates from a unibody?
Making them buy you a new shell might be the cheapest option.

Man I got soooo much time and work into the bay, gutting the car, shaving, brackets on the front end, primer and paint. I really don't want to start over. I hope that's not the option. I am not a cage builder or fabercator by any means but my guess is you cut and grind them out. It will prolly make it weaker tho.

Re: 8.50 and slower roll cage!!!! JUNK.
Those welds around the center tunnel are some of the worse I've ever seen. Did they use a flux core mig or something.... That's pathetic to say the least. Absolutely no pride in their work at all. Hope this gets straightened out ASAP.
Only thing I can thing to do with those plates now is grind as much of the welds out as possible and get someone who knows how to weld to redo it.
That's sickening....

To think a "shop" would actually let something like this go out there door!!!
They obvisiously have zero pride in there work, all these pic's aswell as the shop's name should be plastered all over the worst fabrication picture thread!
The welds on the centre tunel is sooooooo nasty looking, perfect example of why paint needs to be removed before welding ur plates down... Nice clean steel is key but then again they even managed to f*ck it up where they butted 2 plate's together!
Hope ur Luck changes soon on this cage ordeal, and with any luck u get all ur money back and enough to cover the hassle it's Gona take to cut that crap outa ur car .. Can't wait to see updated pic's of ur properly installed cage!!

Plating the tunnel for the d bars is not legal anyway. The next person you get to fix the cage will probably cut that whole section out. The floor bar will go through it, then the floor recovered with sheet metal.

for a uni-body car...
“D” bars may be welded to conventional 6-inch x 6-inch x 1/8-inch form fitted/contoured plates attached to the driveshaft tunnel. Otherwise, the “D” bars must be attached to frame, subframe, or subframe connectors.

What a joke, besides the welds and everything else, those ****** door bars being that low.... ****. You can tell who ever built that could care less about safety ( besides all the other bull **** ) ,its almost like those door bars were built so you could get in and out of the car easier. Never forget when I had a customer to put them super lower so they could get out easier.....said nope. Cage is for safety, not ease of getting in and out of a car.

onesixxkyle.. You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. If You acted like that in my neck of the woods, lets just say, you would need to get a pretty good dentist afterwards. You dont **** with peoples safety, you might as well be putting the nails in his coffin, along with that pathetic excuse for a shop! Ive seen some fucked up **** in my day, but that takes the cake. Might as well of just put in a "bolt in roll cage" from a catalog. This **** pisses me off. That crap would never fly in my area, NEVER!

I just read this entire thread. I hate to say it but every time I try and support a local business and help the little guy I have been burned as well. This is why I gladly drove 5 1/2 hours one way to T1 for a tune. I hope it all works out for you in the end.
