Re: My new 87 CRX SI
Bringing the CRX home tomorrow. I think it has a bad axle seal.
I did get another transmission. I may rebuild it, I bought it in case the trans case from this is warped and cant be sealed right. Probably get a rebuild kit from River Gate Automotive. They have full rebuild kits for $225+ship.
I am ordered axle seals from Rock Auto. Should be a productive weekend.

Re: My new 87 CRX SI
Ahhh, memories. Back in summer of 93 after I graduated HS, my mother put down a 1G for my 87 CRX Si that was black too. It was a great car at the time and I wish I new more about cars back then as I do now. Honda-Tech is a great place to learn & socialize and I owe a lot of what I learned from here.
Good luck on your project!

Gonna get it soon. Trading website work for the guy who has it. I am going to part it out, and basically scrap the shell, if I can't sell it on CL for like $300.

Re: My new 87 CRX SI
Replaced both axle seals and the driver side axle.
Driver side still leaks like a MOTHER ****ER. Watched the Flyers game only to come out to a 2 foot wide wet spot of gear oil...
I called a few mechanic friends of mine, they said it sounds like the bore in which the axle seal sits, is damaged, most likely nicked or scarred, or warped.
I am going to get a new axle seal, remove the old (new) one, clean the bore with Brake Clean and a rag, then apply a coat of RTV Ultra Black High Temp Oil sealant, then press the new seal into place. This should fill in any cracks or mishaps.
Blah. FML.

Sounds good. I'll probably do $50 for the cluster and $10 for the corner. as for your temp gauge. check to make sure your thermostat is working properly.

Re: My 87 CRX Si's Worklog
it looks like it has all the fundamentals in terms of exterior integrity, no major body issues from the pix, imo i'd just try a straight restoration on the exterior and enhance the engine and suspension while bringing the body and interior up to original specs, when i get my accord finished i think a crx will be my next project, nice work so far

Re: My new 87 CRX SI
hey if u want to lower the front of ur car u need to loosen the the torsion bar nuts and if u want to do a swap u should find a 86-89 integra and almost every thing on those cars will fit like the swap will drop right in no custom **** needed and it also has rear disk breaks that will fit

Re: My new 87 CRX SI
Well... I think this fuel pump is dead... I normally have to prime the pump 2-3 times in the morning for it to start. (I'm pretty sure my FPR is bad, so thats why)
I primed it once, and forgot to prime it again, went to start it, it didn't. so I went to prime it again... I don't hear the pump and the PGM-FI light doesn't come on anymore.
Checked all my fuses, they are all good. I have the pump assembly out now, maybe one of the connectors is lose, but I doubt it.
I know I don't have the money to buy a new pump right now either... I'm so screwed.

Re: My new 87 CRX SI
Throwout bearing was making noise last week...
I think it finally ceased Friday Night...
I was driving, then all of a sudden it was hard to get into gear, then the clutch went rock hard, then I couldn't get it out of gear or into any gear, even with the car on or off...
Dropped it at the mechanics... well see what happens.
