just got a b16 swapped 87 crx si ;)
EDIT:its a D16 not a B16 as once thought,hahaha(im such an newb!!11)
well im out of town for work and was browsing craigslist and came upon her. full working order with a good body and only some minor faults, nothing major for $800,i cant complain.
i had my girlfriend go pick her up.
i dont know what all is under the hood yet because i have not seen the car in person, but the pics i got of her she has a cold air intake, full header back exhaust, and a rear cage.
my first car was a red si,i lost my liscense and was getting my 240sx working so i sold her,big mistake on my part.i wish i had not sold her,but i did and for the past few months i have been looking for another
i will keep you guys posted, and feel free to ask any questions and i will do my best to answer.
im so happy!!!!!!!!!

well i have not seen the car in person,so i cant say first hand, but everyone who saw it said it is a b16a,either way,i am not worried about it.
thanks for letting me know though.
i am not too worried about it and i did not buy it just for the engine,as i have a deep seeded love and respect for this car.
she runs very good and is pretty fast.
once again,thanks to all.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>....A.J.

going by the fact that the drivers side mount is factory honda, i concur with the d16a1. i don't care who or what your friends are, but that is not a B16a. it is entirely too far from the firewall too. i should know.

Re: just got a b16 swapped 87 crx si ;)
well you all are right,i went and did some research on it and it is indeed a d16.
thanks guys for the heads up and not being total a$$holes about it.
anyways, the sunroof it kinda warped and i was wondering how i could remedy this.
can i replace just the panel or do i have to replace the whole unit.
i found a carbon fiber panel for her but i want to make sure i dont have to rip the sunroof apart twice to make its it flat.
i am going to look for a service manual as soon as possible,i had the haynes for my old one but gave it away with the car.
thanks guys.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.A.J.

Re: just got a b16 swapped 87 crx si ;)
congrats with your "new" ride. good find!
i have a friend who just acquired one. a CRX Pro with a true, Mugen authentic kit in it, in white color.
he was asking for my assistance in helpin him rebuild the car and so i did a quick search in here. i'll be checking your thread most often and i hope to grab some ideas, LOL.
my first and foremost issue now is with the suspension and brake parts upgrade or rebuild to oem specs at least. the engine swap and wire harness issues i can easily handle since i have done couple of swaps already, but on later gen civics and tegs. ecu re chipping and tuning can be easily done in house as well.
any idea where to source out suspension and brake upgrades for this model?

Re: just got a b16 swapped 87 crx si ;)
well as far as upgrades go,for the brakes i went with hawk hps pad and ate rotor for the front from tirerack, that should be quite fine for spirited driving as long as you use decent fluid.
the rears can be swapped from a first gen integra, just swap the entire rear axle.
as far as suspension goes, there are not too many options that i have seen.
heeltoeauto .com has some really nice looking stuff, like better torsion bars for the front and a pro damper kit thats like $1200.
the member E-AT_me has alot of knowledge about these cars so i would search his threads and I would contact him if you hit a snag.
get some pics of the car and post them and when i get home i will have alot more info on my own car to work with.
do you have a shop that you can tune ecus btw???
thanks.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.A.J.

Re: just got a b16 swapped 87 crx si ;)
many thanks for your insights bro!
yup, E-AT_me already linked me to some sites and so i did my own research about this old beauty.
am still waiting for sometime to meet my buddy again(owner of the rex) so i can discuss with him the things i found out. from there, either i'll let him post or i'll create his own build thread as we progress, hopefully.
as for the tuner, i'm the one. also an engine builder, electrical/electronics guy, etc. a one man army you can say.

anytime dude
that's search button up there does wonders. grab yourself a bag or two of popcorn and start readin. there's lots of valuable info laying around. meanwhile, a helms repair manual is your best friend.
