Don't waste your money on anything but a Valentine 1, yeah it's $400 but think about how much your insurance will go up plus lawyer+court costs. Mines saved me many times.

One, that when u do get a ticket they will pay it. Cops have new guns that JAM the detectors but if they are just using K or KA band u will be fine. Most cops do use those types, and there is a detector that makes their guns not pick up the speed but if they can do it by eye YOUR FUCKED.

1st of your right....phatom randar detectors and phazers all made by rocky mountain radar are complete crap....

there is 1 decent k band jammer....i forget where it was at, but it is alright but it cost somewhat like 500 bucks so...cost wise its not worth it

2nd, cops cant jam radar detectors...mmk they can detect them but to jam them they would in essence have to send a singnal to the detector...designers of radar detectors stay up w/ times...do you think you would allow thier product to become useless....um no
the way they improve radar guns is by making them #1 faster....#2 more accurate...#3 different sin waves etc....for shorter dectection and burst in less of milleseconds

Currently a V-1 is a good detectors...but cost effectiveness its really not worth it....for the price a bel980 cant be beat.... http://www.smilephotovideo.com has very cheap prices.....good luck w/ the new buy...

No they can't jam radar detector but they can fool them. If they send a signal in a short enough burst your detector will not pick it up. Kind of like not seeing a plane moving at the speed of sound. It's there but your brain can not process the information fast enough for you to see it. Yes they can make them faster but at a cost. The problem? Eventually they will be so fast that it doesn't matter if you can detect it because your brain will be the limiting factor. You will not be able to slam on the brakes fast enough. Kind of like laser detectors, which pretty much tell you you are getting a ticket. Laser technology is getting really advanced. Expect narrower beams in the future.

Different waves won't do anything, radar works on the doppler effect it doesn't matter what the wave originally looks like. Only what it looks like when it returns. And detectors don't send out any waves they only detect them. They do emit very small waves but these are waves that are leaked out and is what is used by police to tell you have a radar detector.

Police radar guns are far more expensive than radar detector they will always have the advantage.

The Valentine is the best detector IMO.

well according to my freinds EE (electrical engineering) prof...the farther the wave travels the more noise it picks up in the signal...thats why k band is only very effective in less than 1500ft or so.....now laser is a whole other story...laser is photons....photons can be absorbed....therefore it can be defeated....but it is very accurate at very long ranges....something like 3000ft+ so......

one trick ive learn is that the most reflective part of the car is your license plate....some of us have to have front plates and cant put them in our windows so my solution is to mount it opn a hinge so that when you go fast....the hinge lets you plate fold into you air duct underneath...this then points your plate to the ground not....forward...therefore reflecting the laser signal to the ground.....yes a officer can still laser you...but they are training to hit you plate...and but just hitting you plastic bumper and aqward hood angles...their accuracy is greatly reduced....so in essence if he tries to tag you and an get a good reading.....(they take 9 readsing in less that a second something ludacris like 10milliseconds...) if the 9 readings arent w/ in a certain tolerance the officer doesnt get a reading....the latest guns on the market are something like bee or stinger i forget exactly its been a while....but they are pretty nasty....but for the average local cops....most use what is refered to as rolling radar...or doppler effect.....so they are always boradcasting the signal and if you far away enough and can detect the signal you have ample time to slow down....w/ the bel980 i have seen upwards of 1/2 mile detection straight on....

all in all most state enforment officers use very hi tech equipment....so just dont do more than 15 over and youll be set.....if you doing more than that....just make sure they cant catch you and run like hell!!!! and dont look back....but take my words or wisdom for what they are....if you get caught just get a good lawyer and youll still have you license to boot....

The escort 8500 is supposed to be the best. I've read tons of reviews on it, and apperently its better than even the Valentine 1. I don't know anyone who has it yet though. My friends dad has a ferrari and the radar detector in that is dope as ****, so if you can find one of the stock ones for those pick it up

I would get the Valentine 1 along with a CB radio and a police scanner. With the CB, if you are on the highway, the truckers will always tell you if there is a "smokey" around and the scanner let you know if there are cops in the vicinity. CB saved my *** a couple of times.

Best deterrent is to not wear those lead shoes.

Just my $0.02

i'm pretty sure cops can't eyeball it, cuz what would they say when you ask to see the gun? (something you should always do WITHOUT an attitude)
