Default Viper alarm quiet after motor swap

Like the title states, I swapped my motor and now my alarm doesn't make sound when I engage or disengage the lock. (The beep-beep sound) The locks still work properly just without the armed sound.

alarm model #? does it still have warn chirps and alarm? if not ensure it is still grounded and the horn is getting 12v when the alarm is triggered. if both are there the horn is bad.

holding down lock(panic) is an easy way to test this

if the horn is fine, the alarm is either in valet mode(not arming) or your settings defaulted or changed to turn your "confirmation chirps" off.

Ok my alarm goes off when holding the panic button. I'm unsure of the model number. I'm guessing the only sound that isn't working is the confirmation chirps.

try to set the alarm off. open door with key/key in ignition/external sensor. if the alarm doesn't trigger, your car is most likely in valet mode.

does your alarm/antenna receiver have a status light?

Yes there is a light on my steering column. It used to stay off when un-armed and blink when armed. Now it stays on at all times. If the alarm doesn't go off when I open the door, how do I get it out of "valet mode"? Thank you for all of your help btw.

The solid light is affirming your car has been put in valet mode. not a big deal at all and it can most likely be set to normal one of these ways. to know for sure, your model number would be needed.

First- easiest if available (new fob's / independent aux button):
with your fob remote: unlock the vehicle normally. then hit your aux button twice and unlock again. nothing should happen other then the status light goes off, as it would with normal un-arm.

lock button should arm the system again

Second:
locate your valet box/alarm brain or alarm antenna - depending on alarm model - you are looking for a single pronounced button. once you locate this button turn your ignition to the on position, but don't start the car. within 5 seconds of turning the ignition. push and hold the button until the status light goes off.

turn ignition off, shut doors system should arm with lock.

np glad to help.

Ok I got the car out of valet mode and the alarm works properly now. But now I have a new problem. I was leaving work yesterday and it wouldn't start. I touched some wires under the steering column and it started. Guessing it's a lose connection on my starter kill wire. Anyone know what color wire I'm looking for? Maybe it will be obvious which cable is loose.

from the alarm - purple and green are a a high probability. from a relay they could be any color.

it will be the only two wires spliced in to your heavy gauge ignition to starter wire (black/white stripe)

runs to/near near ign. switch and under drivers dash / near lower kick panel in sol

Ok ill check the cables running to the black/white stripe wire. From the way it's acting that's where the loose connection is.

Did this and car won't start still checked wires don't see anything loose that is obvious.

Ok the car started after moving wires around but still can't locate the problem. Is the ignition wire going to be near the clutch pedal or directly under the steering wheel? I found a black/white stripe wire under the wheel that turned into a green/black stripe wire. I also found a small black box with a tiny **** on it under the dash and a rca jack was plugged into it?

from 93 del sol after start kill was removed.
[IMG][/IMG]

in this case the starter wire was spliced coming out of the fuse box. (in red- lower left kick)

these wires as well as the wires in red on the top right go to the ignition switch. the splice will be somewhere on the black/white striped wire, and i don't believe it changes to a green/black stripe.

The box with a ****/rca is most likely your glass break sensor for your alarm.

ensure your Neutral safety switch is connected proper and all parts are functioning. (it may not be the alarm)

can you take a picture of the problem area, if this info doesn't help?
