Need help, powered subwoofer install in Civic coupe
I finally got tired of my lame sounding alpine head unit/2-way speaker system in my 93 civic coupe so I decided I would try a low-cost solution and buy a small powered subwoofer http://www.crutchfield.com/S-3udhtu7...nce-B-8PT.html from Crutchfield.
I got it 99% installed and working yesterday, but haven't decided exactly how I want to mount it. I'd like to keep as much usable trunk space as possible so I was thinking about mounting it to the back of the rear seat, facing backwards. The kit only came with a bit of velcro and I would think that will be enough support it, nearly upside-down. Does someone make hold down brackets for this type of install? I believe I could come up with something in a pinch, but would rather it not look ghetto.
Another thought I had was to mount it inside the rear seat, facing into the cabin. It would be a bit more work, but could be a much cleaner looking install. I would remove the rear seat back cover, cut a piece of foam out of the back the size of the sub, and mount it the the seat back. I would put it directly in the middle where the hump is, since no one sits there anyways.
Any help/tips would be appreciated. This is my first time installing any sort of amp/sub.

You can always ditch your spare tire and throw it in the well. Total stealth! I also like the inside of the seat thing, but not sure how it would sound. Should be pretty good since the material is not too thick.
*edit*
It's a sub/amp combo...I would not put it in the seats. There is not enough air to keep it cool!!! It will probably overheat real fast.

Inside the seat will not work, as mentioned the amp needs air circulation to keep cool.
I would stick to mounting it to the back of the seat facing back.
Reassessing a shallow tray/amp rack part way into the back of the seat and mounting sub into it would look good. 94

Do yourself a favor and send that thing back. It okay for a hatch back and inside a truck. Your never going to get anything good out of that in a trunk. Best would be in a cab of the car. Look into the infinity bass link or the mtx version. I had horriable experince with those cheap units

Those all in one units are nice but in my experience they seem to never have the best sound. I will say that they have got better over the years but I would have to agree with wrx-killer if you were wanting to do a all in one unit I would look at a different brand.
It's like anything else you get what you pay for. I am a big fan of the JL audio stealth boxes and add a amp but it seems like you have to sell a kidney to afford one...lol
Good luck with what ever you decide to do
