Default Factory CD Player will not play 700MB/80MIN burned discs? Solutions?

I own a 99 Honda Civic DX. As some of you might know the factory CD player seems to only like 74 min / 650MB CD-R discs, it doesn't seem to take the 80 min / 700MB discs that seem to be the standard nowadays.

Is there a way around this? Are there specific brands or types of 700MB discs it will take? Is there even a source other than eBay to buy 650MB blank discs? (I've tried Radioshack, Walmart, BestBuy, and OfficeMax)

Note: I don't want to turn this into a discussion on why I should not keep the factory CD player. I have my reasons because of 2 break ins on my car for different aftermarket head units.

My 99 ex had an OEM disc player and I never had a problem w/ the 80min/700mb discs UNLESS it was a copy of a disc that had multimedia content on it such as videos. Even my current Alpine 9884 runs into this occasionally. Prime example: Nappy Roots Wooden Leather. Every time I throw my burned copy in the display sits there with no readout from the disc for probably 10-15 seconds, then suddenly it starts. Or it sits there and does nothing unless I pop it out and put it back in 3-4 times. Weird stuff.

huh, my cda 9884 has never done that. However alpine cd players are known to get picky as they get older.

Honestly, if you can get the other disks maybe just go with that route?
Seems like the easy way to me, but i have truely never heard of this problem.

As for the cd players being stolen, what you could do is relocate the after market deck to by the cup holders, and leave the factory radio up top, and only have the power and swich hooked up to it, so a theif thinks you still use it?

My freinds old car had 3 stolen, untill he did that, and it stopped.
Just giving you ideas if you want a aftermarket cdplayer.

Buy digital audio CDRs
http://www.deltamedia.com/products/d...udio-cd-r.html

No gurantees but they are usually more compatable with older CD players
