Default Compustar remote start wiring questions

I have my Compustar 2w900fm-as installed, but only the basic alarm functions. The remote start wiring was not installed. I am curious which, if not all of these remaining wires are required?

(-)starter output
(-)ignition output
(-)e-brake
(-)parking light output
(+)brake input
(AC)tach/alternator input
(-)accessory output
(-)glow input/key sensing
(-)rearm output
(-)disarm output
(-)slave/closed loop input
(-)status out (gwr)

Thanks

Ok so I wired in the e-brake, brake, and tach wires. I am now able to go into reservation mode. Car stays on when I remove the key from the ignition and shuts down as soon as I shut the door. Problem now is that the doors do not automatically lock. The "open door" light stays lit for about 30 secs and turns off. Car is not able to remote start either. One thing is I never found out what wire to wire into the clutch.

Let's start with the MM&Y of car it is in.

You obviously have it wired properly, mostly.

You are going to have to connect the (-)status out (gwr) to the output of the CIS, [clutch interlock switch].

When you try and start the car remotely, [after putting it into reservation mode] what happens exactly?

Try sitting in the car, put it into reservation mode, turn off the ign. open and close the door, [engine should stop, doors should lock, alarm should arm] press start on remote and step on clutch, if car starts, connecting the status lead to the CIS will solve that problem, if that is what the problem is.

Doors not locking and alarm not arming could just be a programing issue. 94

Ah I was waiting for your response.

It is in a 2001 Impreza 2.5RS. The guys over at nasioc and rs25 aren't so helpful.

I will try the status out connection sometime this weekend.

Ok I get out of the car as written in the instructions (car in neutral, hold brake pedal, pull up ebrake, release brake pedal, remove key, get out of car, shut door). As soon as I shut the door, the car shuts off as it's supposed to. The doors do not lock nor does the alarm arm. If I try to remote start it by holding the II button, the remote beeps 3 times and the parking lights flash 3 times. If I manually lock the doors with the remote, it does the same thing.

I just tried your method. Doors still do not lock nor does the alarm arm. When I push the clutch and try to start it, it thinks that a door is still open.

Another thing to point out. My tach sensing isn't working. I start the car, hold the brake, and hold the remote start II button. It gives me the following error: 3 flashes, hold, 1 flash. According to the manual that means option 2-10 (engine sensing method) is not at default setting I (tach). So I go into the options and change it to I (tach). Try again, same result. Do you think that I tapped into a bad wire? I used the wire in the back of the cluster. Others have told me that it's better to get it from the injector wiring.

On some cars the tach drive is not strong enough and is actually not a "true" tach signal, go to the ign. coil and use the blue or red/green, you can also use an injector lead. 94

Ok so I hooked up the (-)Status out GWR to the green yellow wire above the clutch. I also re-wired the tach to the ignition coil (also tried the injector). Everything is still the same. When I try to remote start or do the tach learn it tells me that I must do tach learn first before remote starting and that the engine sensing setting is not set to tach. I changed the setting to tach several times. There is also a setting that controls how the tach sense works. I tried all three settings (optimal tach method, previous tach method, low threshold tach method) and with the same results.

Now I also have another problem. The car no longer goes into reservation mode. It shuts off as soon as I remove the key even though i go through the reservation mode steps. I also do not hear the click that comes from the alarm brain after I pull up the ebrake. I checked the wiring and it all looks fine.

This is really giving me a head ache and at this point I want to say screw it and set the alarm brain to automatic transmission mode and use the neutral safety switch for my remote start. Anyone know how I would wire the alarm in this way?

Thanks again.

Tested the wire going to the ebrake. It shows 0V when pulled up and 1.55V when released down. I assume that's correct. I'm starting to think I screwed up some programming setting for reservation mode.

Also tested the brake wire. Shows 11.80V when depressed and 0V when up.

Ok good news now. Tach sensing is working. I guess to tagged the wrong ignition coil wire last night when it was dark. Got the right one now and tach learn is done. Brake wire is good now because it makes the alarm brain click when depressed. Still messing with my ebrake signal though. The signal itself seems good, but it doesn't make the alarm brain click like it used to.

I got it to work!!! I guess I was doing the reservation mode the wrong way. I was holding the foot brake while I was pulling the ebrake so it didnt register the ebrake input. Everything works now and it starts perfectly. Now that I've done it before, an alarm/remote start install isn't all too difficult to install.

Thanks for all the help!

I just realized something, what good would remote start be in the pacific northwest if I still had to hit the rear defrost button when I get into the car? The alarm I have is said to have two aux outputs. I have this unused pre-wired relay. I was wondering if it was the way to go to hook up to the rear defroster?
