Default When is a car all-motor?

Obviously a car isn't all-motor if it has a turbo, supercharger, or nitrous. Does the lack of any of those make you all-motor? Would a bone stock Civic CX be all-motor? Some people have suggested that a car isn't all-motor until it has real work on the motor. So what is eveyones opinion. Is any na car all-motor, is a a car with i/h/e, or at what point does it become all-motor? My personal opinion is after a swap or after you open the motor up for cams or whatever then it is all-motor and not just stock or all bolt-ons.

I thought all-motor was basically any car that didn't have turbo/super chargers on them. I didn't think having nitrous would take it out of all-motor. Since nitrous isn't really forced induction and it isn't really all-motor, are the bottle feeders the bastard children?

A nitrous car is all-motor when the nitrous plumbing is hidden.

Any car without a power adder is all motor. Nitrous is a power adder.

Actually, Nitrous is very close to being forced induction. Think about it, average bottle pressure for a Nitrous bottle will be about 900-1000psi. That 900-1000 psi is being shoved into a motor in gas form. The gas is incredibly cold, but its still being "forced" in. Just something to think about.

All motor = motor with no sort of FI

Finally someone agrees that an intake isn't really all-motor. If a stock Civic is all-motor is adding an intake all-motor tuning?

that is completely irrelevant. and engine is all-motor or naturally aspirated no matter what the power level. any boner with a stock engine and an intake is still all motor.. just a weak one.

All motor means naturally aspirated, plain and simple. You can "interpret" that how you want.

yep, i believe that's true. i no longer use N2O but i think that's how people feel about it in general.

to answer the original topic questions, any motor that doesn' use F/I of some sort (Turbo, SC or N2O injection) is technically "All Motor" or "N/A".

but on the other hand i don't care too much when someone says they are 'running an all-motor setup... with just I/H/E'. that is a N/A motor, but not really all-motor the way alot of us think. all-motor being full block, head and tranny work, with tuning of course. a B or H series swap with a couple bolt-ons really doesn't fall into the genuine "All-Motor" catagory. more like "Street" motor.

I'n my eyes the answer to this question is very simple and a few ppl have already answered it. An all motor car aka NA is simply a car that uses nothing but the motor itself to make it power. It doesn't matter what stage of an all motor setup you're in it's still all motor . A soon as you add something that wasnt on the car b4 to make more power like a turbo/ sc /nitrous and even that tornado thinggy( j/p ) then you are in a differnt catagory.

got you covered!!! I've been thinking about that for a long time now and I've got the answer. Bottle can be hidden in the rear or front bumper cover with a little work. You could also cut the spare tyre well out and weld a flat sheet there, then install the N20 under that flat plate-this is a little safer- I've got some other ideas that you may want to think about but I'll leave that to PM. (I'm assuming that the car is pretty much going to be a track car with the bottle, as I'd not advise this for the street...)
