Type R head on GS-R block??
Is there any benefit to doing a built type R head onto a built GS-R block?
I currently am running a fully built GS-R and am looking for a bit more and was wondering would the gains be worth the money or should I just rebuild the motor that I have now a bit more aggressive?

I just wanst sure if the type R head would have any benefit over the gs-r head if I did the same amount of work to it as I ahve done to my current gs-r head

once the heads have been reworked and ported it doesnt matter if its a p72 or pr3 head. i personally like the pr3 heads better due to manifold selection.

Re: Type R head on GS-R block??
No. The type-r head is a b16 casting, with a mild hand port job from the factory, and all the other itr goodies. The gsr head will make more hp when built due to the smaller combustion chambers. If you built a gsr head and a type-r head identically with the only variance being the size of the combustion chambers, the gsr would make more power.
I will never understand why people think type-r heads are better than everything else. From the factory yes, but when built to any degree, the gsr head is a better choice.

That is exactly the information that I was looking for, That leaves me with money to do other things instead which is great

No problem, glad I could help. Being 16 and not making much at all, I try to do what I can with what I have and save money on things where I can so I have done untold amounts of rescearch to figure out what is worth doing and what isnt. Good Luck with it.
