stock crank pulley or aftermarket???
ok Im gonna try to keep this somewhat short. i have 2 motors apart. building one. my b20 (not building) had a crank timing gear and an unorthodox racing 1 belt pulley. my b18 had the stock harmonic balancer. now im building the b18 and have it somewhat together and wondering which pulley set up to use. I understand the unorthodox pulley is way lighter which is good, but I understand that you gotta keep everything with the harmonic balancer. main question is it bad to use the lighter racing pulley over the stock harmonic balancer?

Re: stock crank pulley or aftermarket???
Back in the day when I was up to date on everything it would be a solid no to aftermarket pulleys. Now though I am of the opinion the rubber insert is more about the shock of the compressor engaging, so, IMO, if you don't have A/C I think it doesn't make any difference.
You will no doubt hear otherwise though. Personally, I am running stock with the p/s ribs cut off and then turned smooth on a lathe.
