ls/vtec shavings
i have an ls/vtec and has been running it for only 1 month and i have changed the oil recently and a lot of small pieces of metal shavings drained out with the oil. i then took off the sandwich plate and a bunch of shavings was in there also. took off the vtec solenoid and more shavings.
so i took off the oil pan and checked the rod bearings, not that much discoloration on em and no big pieces or any deep scratches on them.
could it be the main bearings??? or has anyone else found shavings on an ls-v or cr-v?
dont know what to do but the engine runs well with no knocking, so its confusing me.
anyone know?

Yes, it could be the main bearings. What process did you use to select them? Meaning, did you play the block and crank color code game in selecting bearing thickness, did you just throw in a set of ACL's, did you actually mic the journals, etc.etc.

you'll have to look REALLY hard for those cam bearings.....REALLLLY hard
is this the first oil change?

Re: ls/vtec shavings (Combustion Contraption)
Shavings normally come from head milling, or vtec oil hole (in the head) thread tapping. Check your VTEC solenoid filter. I am sure there are shavings in there as well.
FYI. Bearing failure shows up in da oil as metallic specs, much like the goldish specs/flecks one sees floating in sandy water. The more copperish the color, the worse off you are. Dat-sum info for da win (FTW). Fo-shizaay!!!

Re: ls/vtec shavings (Master of the Universe)
Seems nobody ever properly cleans the oil passages in the head on those. Removing all those little pain in the *** hex plugs is the only way to do it. Most of the time I heat them up to soften the factory thread lock/sealant. Flushing it out with brake clean and compressed air works great.

the main bearings are stock, never replaced. cam bearings look alright, it could possibly be the shavings from drilling and tapping the oil passage...there was shavings in the screen for the solenoid.
also the oil wasnt a copperish color. and it was the first oil change
well i put it back together today so i've ordered a clutch and i am putting it back in when i get the clutch.
hopefully it all goes good and thanks for all the help guys...
