Default Hydrolock help

Soo my little hatchy ran thru no exaggeration a 2foot puddle at about 30mph and seems to be hydrolocked . The car does start however the check engine light comes on and it makes a terrible sound, doesnt sound normal. Its still drivable but at times sounds like it struggles so I havent been driving it since it happened. People have told me to let it sit in place untill it dries up and **** but idk dont seem to be working. Anyone got any idea on the possibilities of it being recoverable without having to swap ? And if taking it to a mechanic , would it get fixed if possible , quickly ?

You probably have a bent rod or bent valve.

You would need to tear down (disassemble) the motor and send it to a machine shop.

Kick whomever told you this in the head. How is water thats in a pretty much seal container going to dry up?

You need to change the oil and spark plugs and if that doesn't help, do a compression test and leakdown test to diagnose further problems.

I say to change plugs as well cause the same exact thing happened to my buddy. His car sucked up water, my buddy immediately turned off the car, had it towed home then pulled the oil pan to make sure no bent rods. No bent rods, so he did a leakdown test to check for bent valves, no bent valves. So he put fresh oil in and the car started up, but stumbled and ran like crap. I came over, changed the plugs, and the car ran like it never sucked up any water

I agree with the advice to change all of the fluids out completely (its worth a try) but be prepared for the worse. Also, pull all of the plugs and turn the motor over a couple of times before you start it again.

DO NOT DRIVE IT OR START IT unless you know for sure you don't have bent rod(s) or valve(s)
