GETTING IT STRAIGHT - Velocity Map of Intake Port
This is a good diagram for discussion of velocities in an intake port such as the BVTEC intake.
Red is higher velocity, blue is slower.
Very instructive to help understand where to concentrate efforts when endeavoring in porting/polishing.
Discuss, listen, think,...LURN.
FO-SHIZZAY!!!

Assembled one molecule at a time with a neural network of CRAY supercomputers using nano pliers at IBM nanotechnology labs.
Fabinacci series validated growth of fractals of irrational and imaginary number vectors with eigen values for solutions of dynamic systems. Stephen Hawkings and Ben Afflick double checked my work. Should be somewhat suitable for use here in H-T.
Up next is unification of super strings and membrane theories of infinite parallel universes, right after CAPM modeling of equilibrium asset pricing.

12 Dimension String Theory
Interesting that the port has what looks to be a decent amount of short turn and theres still da tell-tale velocity spike at the apex. BUT OH NOZ, if you lay it back, ull kill da low-lift!!one11

Oh snap, datz why da VTAK pop only sputterz now. Need to put a trip strip dere and some vortex generaterz to bring it back to laminar, too much shearing. Fuel gonna fall out of da stream.

isnt that where a good (porter) canadjust/massage the short turn, and give a commplimentary VJ (whatever it is, throat size/angle to bottom cut angle etc)
that could help recoup the killed low lift flow? and maybe gain sum up top mid or high lift?
well i hope im grasping the concept correct haha

I'll see about getting a low lift, mid lift and high lift diagram. Thank you for not asking if this shiatt was hand drawn. I am all in for humor but that was deserving of a Singaporian lashing.

Re: GETTING IT STRAIGHT - Velocity Map of Intake Port
The 2-D map is difficult to work with as we are not taking into account how the sides are affecting flow or how changes to the map we are using will affect flow on either side. This becomes more of a problem when considering ports not perpendicular to the side of the head they enter from.

Re: GETTING IT STRAIGHT - Velocity Map of Intake Port
What we're looking for on this map is not necessarily to increase velocity but to make the velocities we're looking at more uniform, which will increase overall flow. When air encounters an obstruction, it increases in speed. However it's fairly obvious that we want to avoid obstructions. So who can make the picture all one color?

if you make the map all one colour won't the fuel fall out of the stream?
D shaped ports FTW?
maybe we need a section in the other direction of said modeled port

LOL, that's the old me--now alot leaner.
I had some very good teachers influence my porting. My biggest complement was that I was a very good student and learned quickly.
Have you found your external hard drive with da thousand time slips etc? Sounds like you got da _________ syndrome.

Re: GETTING IT STRAIGHT - Velocity Map of Intake Port
rocket, what software are you using for the CFD? does using different velocities have a pronounced effect on the areas of interest?
