does anyone still build LS motors?

does anyone still build LS motors?
it seems the fascination with ls motors have died down just like any other trend, and now its a D16 single cam and hellaflush, because someone( speedfactory) set a record in a built d16 everyone is jumping on the bandwagon.
just curious if anyone still believes in b18b without a vtec head.

Lots of us do. But as times get tough, the market goes down, and people want power on the cheap. since D-series whatevers are a dime a dozen, that is the new platform used.
I'm still an LS/VTEC fan myself, but only because I use the cranks and rods for my builds and put them into B18C and B20 blocks.

Im a huge fan of B series non v motors. I plan on building a b20/p8r setup with 404's in a crx when I can sell my h2b

Re: does anyone still build LS motors?
i almost gave into the temptation of installing the gsr pistons and getting some bigger cams for my LS
i love the LS motor as well been driving it for about 5 years now, the sound is damn nice
and it feels very strong for daily driving.
jst havent seen much action here or at the shops
they re so cheap now, actually cheaper than a single cam.

Re: does anyone still build LS motors?
I've had an ls sitting at my work for a while now, with Crower 403's not installed, just sitting there. Their pretty inexpensive to build and you can easily extract some decent power from them, I may get around to figuring out the rest of that build plan, and throw it in the hatch
A local guy (Northwest) is selling his EH with a built LS (crower valvetrain, etc.) and making excellent power, got me back to rethinking it. Not a fan of the LS tranny though, maybe a 5th in a b16.

I actually had pretty good luck with my ls tranny on street tires at least. I ran the exact same times with the ls tranny as I did with my gsr its just the gsr was harder to get it to hook. the gsr tranny def made it alot funner though

Ya, if I go that route i'm not sure which transmission would be best suitable for it. It would probably just be put into my hatch that I drive to work and back every day so something for fun. GSR transmission could be fun.
That's pretty cool that you were able to run the same time with the ls tranny as the c1 on street tires

ya same time same mph, only thing that changed was my 60' went up 1 tenth. but Im sure that could have been solved with drag radials or slicks.

Yea I'm building one now, PR3's, ported head, Crower valvetrain, Supertech valves, Brian Crower stage 2's, intake mani, 68mm TB, blah blah, nothing crazy but will def rip on the street with my b16 tranny

Re: does anyone still build LS motors?
I have always had a odd fixation with the LS motor, looking to slowly build one up while I come past some good deals on parts (to stick in my 91' rex)

Re: does anyone still build LS motors?
Can't think of his name off the top of my head but a guy made 150whp with ITR pistons (P73), Intake mani, and basic breather mods tuned IIRC. The P73 pistons are great pistons for this kind of build but you have to machine the rods to make them fit. I don't see the point when you can get PR3's or P30 b16 pistons that go right on PR4 LS rods. B16 pistons will give you around 11:1 compression. Any other plans?
