building a B18C4 for race what size ITBs to use ??
Hello all on HT
we are in the process of building af hopefully highperforming engine..
but we questining if we are using the right parts, the setup is as following:
B18C4 blok (169HP EDM civic version of B18C1 GSR)
Motor:
GSR-top with light portning
New sleves from IB.
IB Spec 84.5mm 8.25CC pistons (result is approx 1950ccm)
IB Spec Valvetrain
IB Spec I-Rods
Wicked S2 Cams, with Skunk2 Camgears
GSR-balanced Crank
ACT clutch and fly
Exhaust (2½"):
SMSP or DTR exaust (think it will be DTR)
WRC Cat, 100 cells.
Skunkt2 CatBack.
6066 WB
Intake:
Jenvey ITB's (45 or 48mm, i'm not sure what to choose)
or TWM ?? (I'm think i'm going for Jenvey)
HonData gasket
ECU:
P28 with Crome or HonData s300 (Might just start with Crome)
TechEdge WBo2 2E0
p.s.PUMP GAZ.
What am i missing , or is it a good Setup ?????
Thanks in advance for advice.

Also.. should it be Straight og Tapered TB...
one possible setup is with 4 x 48mm Tapered 4.5°, they should be good for 280+HP,
but i have NO where to look for more info. ??
Reallt nobody ??, i'll think i'm going for the 48mm Tampered..
then i'll just have to try, and the see what happens

Mikkel,
The Jenvey's are top quality. With a 1950cc displacement, you can take good advantage of the 48mm pieces.
Keep us updated with the build

Re: building a B18C4 for race what size ITBs to use ?? (BigAl)
Yes, the cat is requred because of rules..
Still unsure, have nobody ever seen a calculator for ITBs
also i have been told displacement is NOT a factor when calculating ITB's
but RPM and estimated HP is, and when i say 230-250hp (9500RPM), Jenvey recomends 48/4.5°
(Have been told there is at 280+HP ITR running with 48mm ITBs)
I've been told bigger is not allways better, because bigger means slower airflow, with means chamber gets less fill..
and i must say thet the jenvey looks very good..
Jenvey B18C4 kit
If i compare with TWM, they recommend 50mm or 52mm
they have a kit for a B18C... but i know i won't get a B18C5 to fit a B18C1. ??
and ther linkage system does NOT impress me.. looks like i could get stuck.. (sure i's fun at 9500RPM shift )
TWM B18C... C?..

I run the jenvey 48mm ones with custom tapered horns. Donf designed , we set them up for road race apps with a long balanced powerband. I could probably have seen another 5-9 peak hp if i went with the standard short non tapered horns.

Re: building a B18C4 for race what size ITBs to use ?? (Black R)
Damm nice setup..
but if i buy the 51mm T, i just have to portmatch the Jenvey Manifold, because i understand that the manifold from jenvey should be for the 48mm T.
what would the diffrence be between 48 and 51,
48 for avarge HP and 51 for Peek HP ??
think i'm going for the Jenvey.. but just have to be sure about 48 or 51..
(hehe, ower first target was 45mm.. were we off .. )

Jenevy's should work well for you. Specially if you have diff. air horn lengths to tune. Plus the injector angle looks like a plus to me. also consider which ones have the injector farther back. I would go with the 48's. personally. Good luck

Tom's (T-Bone) 48's are the 51mm opening 4.5 degree taper. He also has the 51X83 air horn.

Re: building a B18C4 for race what size ITBs to use ?? (SMSP)
WRC Cat, just a 100cels CAT.
going to order the 51mmT from Jenvey.. is the setup with Jenveys Manifold, or another Manifold that fits 51mm.
Jenves manifold fits the 48, and guess 51 with portmatching..
How about running with 2 inj. with each TB ?
Jenvey B18C1/C4 Manifold
So Now i just have to get a exhaust .. hmm.. DTR og SMSP..
