b16 running like garbage
hey guys so i have a 2000 b16 motor with slight mods. The motor has been running like crap. It doesnt have any power and just putts around. I can have the gas all the way on the floor and it hardly accelerates. It almost sounds like a WRX when you hit the gas. i replaced the tranny thinking that might be the problem but there was no difference. It used to clear up then run smooth but now its a constant putt. Any ideas on what could possibly be wrong with it?

do a compression test. If it sounds like a WRX then you have a dead cylinder. Confirm fuel and spark in all cylinders. Have you checked the valve lash?

I would do a compression check first, if that checks out check your cam timing and ignition timing. Then start with tune up plugs,wires, cap, rotor,fuel filter, pcv valve.

how about the oxygen sensor??? My car had this problem and the yellow light never came on....try doing the trouble shooting from the service manual...

Take it to the F*****g dealer. Or put CP pistons in it with a S300. You have a maintance problem. This question is almost as good as, I came out this morning and one of my tires is flat. WHAT do I do?

The WRX sound on a honda = cylinder down. Could be dead spark plug, bad spark plug wire, clogged/failed injector, no compression on a cylinder(could be several things). Start with the first and go down the list.

I see Don doing a rebuild for this guy.. and then using fix-a-flat as bearing grease...
Get a kit from Autozone or whatever your local parts store is for testing the compression. That will give you your first answer. Continue from there.
