ok, I get the idea.

Now that gas is cheap again, you need to slap a Y8 head with a big lumpy cam on that thing to see what kind of power it will really make! I think your build can get 150+ HP and 40 MPG all day long on 87 octane

I think the crappy DC Sports collector will start choking things off quick.

I'm considering E85 and a little bit of nitrous.

Honestly, what do you have against 91 octane? Its only a couple dollars more per tank, and youll get a little more detonation resistance with it.I am lost a guess. At least give the poor motor some better fuel with the CR you are running..........

Yes its obvious you have missed the entire point of this whole thread... reducing the probability of detonation=you don't need 91. Honestly the insight and prius both run in this range its not impossible.

its a non vtec head that was in Europe and australia not sure on the exact car but its got the y8 style chamber and no vtec. The other option is to bolt on the y7 parts onto a y8 headm its been done, take a look here

Well, my #1 beef with 91 octane is I've never seen the stuff.

Also, if you've gotten to page four and think this is about cheaping out on fuel as opposed to learning something pertaining to knock limit and the nature of combustion then you, sir, are a fish eyed fool.

Keep the insults to yourself. I asked a very simple question.Never seen 91 octane? The only times Ive never seen anything higher than 89 was podunk towns in Texas and Oklahoma when I drove across the country. And those places were stuck in the stone ages.....Sorry,I did not see you mention the fact that you couldnt get the stuff where you were..........

The local pumps have: 87, 89, 92, 93, 110, and whatever E85 is speculatively rated at this week. Welcome to the east coast; from FL to NY I've never seen 91.

It's worth a try. What sort of CR/cam combo are you dealing with?

Have you put the spray to this thing yet?

Edit: does anyone have a dome volume measurement for the 98-00 GX pistons?
