acl race bearings any good?????
just wondering getting ready to purchase some bearing trying to decide if i should get regular acl or the new race version just wondering if anyone knows the difference or if anyone has used them

I have used the "race" HX bearings before. I believe they don't have the flash coating on them, so they are a bit harder, can withstand a bit more detonation but don't have good embedibility--you must keep clean oil.
The block I had them in had another problem --so I had to tear it down after around 500 miles. They were fine during that time though.

The race bearings don't have a babbit flash on the surface.So they don't look as uniform.They also don't have as much eccentricity.They should be used in a strong aftermarket rod.If the rod big end distorts it may pinch at the parting line.

use them in all my builds..... no problem everytime i use them..........race hard with them too...stands beating to 95K everytime i miss shift....lol.... im gonna use them again in my next build...but only on the rods.....mains im gonna use OEM this time.......just for finer tuning....
