K & N air filter recommended? Is it worth it?
I am considering purchasing a K & N air filter for my 2005 TL and was wondering if it was worth it as far as mileage or noticeable power gain. I've always been a fan of the HEPA-type paper filters for what they do. I've heard good things about the K & N filters as far as performance, but do they filter as well as the paper filters?

They r good air filters but there is no noticable hp gain. as for milage u will notice a little bit better gas milage but nothing that is eye popping. A little hp gain and better gas mileage.... its worth it bc they rnt ridiculously priced

The stock replacement K&N filters are great. After the first recharge cleaning they the flow less than stock. They never get completely clean as new.

See if you can find a dry-flow air filter like AEM makes. That way you don't have to worry about oiling the filter. K&Ns are ok but some people over oil them causing problems with the MAF.

i would stick to the oem filter. you can find one on ebay for 18$ or so. K&N drop in's has no noticeable performance gains, but runs the risk of increase exposure to outside elements. If you want performance, go with an cai, preferably a comptech ice box. AEM runs the risk of voiding your manufacture warranty.

Re: (TSX TEX)
Ive had a K&N stock filter in my 02-S for about a year and a half. Ive cleaned 2 times already...i just put back a fram OEM one in. The K&N gets real dirty. The only noticable difference I noticed was when vtec kicked in..it was a little louder than the stock. IDK id rather spend the $45 on filling my tank (may be) than an air filter. Ive reduced my self to using 91 instead on 93.

Re: (djdownfawl)
That is what I have decided......will stick with the stock paper filter. At least we know they do an excellent job of filtering. Many devices use this type of filter and have yet to be replaced by a clean/oil type.
