What to do with my base model.
Whats up guys. Ive got a 02 dc5 and its a base model. I made it look real good but this motor really isnt to good.. How could i get my base motor to type s proformance with out swaping. Give me some input please.

Forced Induction would be your best bet if you are against swapping. An added bonus will be that with a good setup it will be more powerful than a k20a2 swap.

The only problem is that its my daily driver... I mean i really am an idiot with k series i know way more about b series.. But how would my motor do on turbo..?? I cant have it dieing every week, or being blow in a year. If you guys tell me other wise then ill do some reasearch but give me imput. and what slight mods to do for turbo

honestly, i have done hte whole i/h/e bullshit on the base, not worth it at all. i put together a turbo setup (greddy, kpro, upgraded oil lines, etc). i got halfway thru install, and somewhere between my car being down more than i was driving it and realizing that there are worse things than driving a not too fast car, ive decided to sell it off.
bottom line, run a moderate boost level and you will be fine, and turbo is the only modding to the motor i would consider for a base

If you dont want to swap and want to make sure you dont go ka-blooom the best alternative would be a Super Duper Charger. Jacksons setup is nice, I have driven a couple A3's with the Jackson SC and that is tons of fun and I wouldnt worry about any issues.

unfortunately that is not an option for a base, unless you want to move aLOT of stuff around. trust me, ive talked about it with the only base jrsc'd rsx (prototype, they never went into production)

No kidding! That is interesting, I never really paid attention to under the hood of a base RSX. Just not enough space to fit the charger between the rad support and block?

i dont know exactly what needs to be moved, something like just about everything bracketed in the bay needs to be moved an inch to the left, re route some stuff, headache, hassle, etc.
i was always under teh impression that the civic si kit would fit relatively easily on the base, but i suppose not
edit: on second thoght, all that work was to make the k20a2 Kit work on the base. i guess jackson racing decided teh profit incentive was too low to start production on a base rsx kit

No it wouldnt the intake manifold is completely different.
As to the main question, Im totally with reborn. I did the whole i/h/e route with my base too. Although it was still a fun car to drive, the thought of how much more fun a Type S is having with the same mods just tends to damper your driving spirit. I mean ya you can add a reflash and make just about as quick as a stock type s, but is it worth it....imo no. Just keep her lookin pretty and enjoy the base for what it is, a good DD with decent power for rush hour commute.

really the best bet is to boost a base. i think you could have a DD easily if you ran low boost. get a greddy kit with a FMIC at about 10psi and call it a day. you should make about 220whp with a good tune. ive got I/E exhaust on my base and its done something...but not a lot. if you got I/E/H and hondata i think it would be a fun DD but only about a mid 15 sec car(auto) and high 14(5spd).

Just did a job for a local person who has a CN turbo'd base model. I know how people feel about the kit but he is running about 10.3 lbs of boost, right around 280 hp/240 ft lbs, for over a year and a half know. Point of the story, I did a leakdown test for him and all four cylinders were less than 2% leakdown.
With proper tuning, good installation, and moderate boost the A3 is pretty quick. I would not exceed 300 hp w/ a base model because the rods are pencil thin. But less than that and it will be reliable for years to come. Not to mention a brand new A3 motor can be had for really cheap. Go FI!!
