Pure gas... Out the window...
So Oregon passed a bunch of laws or some crap like that so by about mid next year we are stuck with 10% ethanol at EVERY GAS STATION!
Right now it looks like Chevron is the only one to do the conversion (aside from the crap ARCO has been running for years).
Every time i pull up to the pump I ask to see what they are running. They are telling me it is a couple of months before everyone is going to be running it.
What are states are doing this crap?

whats the big deal? Buy some different gas if you don't want ethanol.
Unless you mean that Oregon passed laws saying that all gas must contain 10% ethanol. And then I ask you again, whats the big deal?
What kind of conversion are the gas stations doing?

It's mandated in some Wisconsin counties also. The reason is the alcohol is supposed to reduce emissions because the fuel is more oxygenated. Maybe, but I have documented that using it reduces my mileage by roughly 5%.

well, our environment isnt going to clean itself without our help and this is the least the oil companies can do for us. yes, its true that it takes a little more fuel per tank, but you are reducing emmisions which is good for all of us.
plus think of this:
if you were to reflash your ecu or invest in a hondata k-pro, you could potentially tune your engine to use this new fuel more efficiently and increase your horse power due to the higher flash point / detonation level, and higher oxygen levels. you can now make more power easier and more reliable.
i say bring it on......just my $.02

Alcohol absorbs water easier than gasoline and alcohol is used as a solvent... You want that in your fuel system and engine?
You get worse gas mileage on ethanol gas because it doesn't have the energy of regular gas. Which means that we will still have to buy MORE gas to make up for the loss of MPGs. And note that even though we are running E10 gasoline gas prices STILL DIDN'T drop. Because E10 gas isn't any cheaper to produce and seems to be more spendy.
Haven't tried it yet (actually avoiding it) but I would imagine their would be a cripple on the performance of your vehicle if E10 burns with less energy.
It is raising the price of feed for livestock farmers because grain farmers are using their crop towards E10 production for tax credits.
It isn't going to make us independent from finding oil... Just like hybrid cars (LAME) it is just another way to make consumers think that we are coming up with solutions and sucker them into forking out the dough in the process. (Hybrid cars are actually MORE harmful to the environment than just a normal good MPG car... What do you think we will ever do with all those batteries??? Let alone the COST to REPLACE one of those batteries!)
Switch to compact fluorescents and save yourself some money on your energy bill in the process.
"If every American home replaced just one light bulb with an ENERGY STAR qualified bulb, we would save enough energy to light more than 3 million homes for a year, more than $600 million in annual energy costs, and prevent greenhouse gases equivalent to the emissions of more than 800,000 cars."
And Oregon laws are saying that all gas stations must have the E10 from what I am observing so far (asking lots of questions)....
I meant the conversion to E10.

Human body is 60%-70% water. My body is a lot more important to me than my hunk of steel with 4 wheels. Should I stop drinking beer and rum and cokes too?

Re: Pure gas... Out the window... (Grandprix)
our state (where Nothing is allowed! ) has a few spots that you can get straight gas, racing gas, etc...
but i think all the chain gas stations are ethanol blended.
does it hurt the cars? ...i've heard arguments on both sides.
but as far as i believe... if a car sits for a while, thats when it has trouble with the water solubility issues.
some radio guys said old rubber gas lines on cars were deteriating much faster when introduced to the blend,
and i did have that problem on my old Nissan-
yes, it sat for a while before i bought it off my sister. so i'm a believer. it harms certain engines!
i drive so much now, my car "sitting" is not a problem, and i've never had any trouble with gas!
i get 27-29mpg still! ...and that's City Spirited Driving, with 53,000 miles on it!
i agree Ethanol doesn't help much of anyone, and it's only a band aid to our Oil problems!
but not much we can do, unless you want AL GORE on your ***!

Ethanol is corrosive to aluminum. I think our fuel rails are aluminum. 10% isn't that bad though.

As a state they have tried to make it mandatory several times, but failed. Im glad im not in one of the effected counties.

everywhere where i live is 10% ethanol and has been for years..i have never noticed anything going wrong because of it or anything...doesnt seem to harm my performance at all...you can still buy race gas around here but other than that every gas station I have seen says on the pumps 10% ethanol..no big deal to me...suck it up you will be alright

the thing is, not all oil is turned into gasoline. there are a lot of other uses for oil. we will end up using a bit less oil to turn it into gasoline so that we could use that little bit of oil in other ways such as making plastic and such. it slightly (very slightly) helps our oil issues, but it still does help.
