Icon2 Power loss

Ive got I/E/RH and havent really noticed a difference when adding the exhaust and race header. Its a strupp race header and custom exhaust, i figured i would at least notice a little difference. Ive raced a friend with a completely stock new si and lost when shifting to 3rd. This makes no sense since i have aem intake, Strupp RH, and exhaust. Even just stock my 02 rsx type s should beat an si. on top of that I had the injectors cleaned, fuel filter cleaned, I have brand new NGK plugs, royal purple motor oil, short shifter, ESMM's, and suspension. The car idles and runs PERFECT! Its not just his car ive noticed it with but its a good car to compare with since i KNOW i should be beating him. Im 100% sure his car is totally stock. Could it be my 18'' rims? Any input would be great! Ive also wondered if it could be my ground wires. Not being the only owner of the car i have no idea what could have been done before and maybe someone didnt hook something up 100% correct.

18 inch wheels are huge and heavy and lame. Think about trying to spin a bucket that weighs one pound around in a circle with your arm. Then try doing with a 10 pound bucket. Then try to stop that bucket. That is what you car is doing... Trying to rotate and stop rotating mass that is huge. But it could just be that your friend is a better driver than you, getting a better shift and launch, etc. A stock RSX Type S I think is almost a second faster than the new Si. You should be owning him. Ditch the 18s and get some lightweight 17s or something. I'm sure your wheels are like 20 something lbs a piece. You will notice a HUGE diff with light wheels on your car in acceleration and braking.

depends on what 18's you have. If they are TenzoR and weigh 30 lbs a piece then yes it is going to slow you down. Go with a lightweight wheel and you are fine.

What wheels do you have?
Look them up on this site: www.wheelweights.net

Stock:
RSX02-04 OEM wheels: 16lbs.

What I run:
Enkei RPF1 18X8: 17.8lbs. <--Just 1.8 lbs heavier and two inchs larger in diameter and 1.5 inches width. I would have gone with 17X8 but I dont think the 17" RPF1 looks big enough on the rsx. These would be 16.5 lbs.

Other:
Tenzo-R DC6 v2 18X8: 22.5 <--6.5 lbs heavier than stock

prose
