Let's play name this part
I just broke this part not even 10 minutes ago and now it looks like I need to find out what the hell it is and where to buy it. I'm assuming it's the thermostat because it has a spring in it and it's bolted into where the coolant goes into the motor. It's a K20Z1 and any help on locating this part is appreciated. Thanks

Somebody pry'd in the wrong place when installing a cold air intake, LOL.
Give me a little while I'll find a link to the part, I forget the name off hand. Its not the thermostat though.

Yep pulling the rubber hose too hard and snapped that plastic nipple off. Sucks.
Yea if someone can find the link to the part I'd appreicate it because I don't know the name of the part.

So what would happen if I were to wrap this and seal it off with some kind of hose and block off the air tube from the air box? If it was sealed off would the car throw a cel?

Edited my last post so people wouldn't be confused, memory after reading the name is > me.
Yes, it will most likely throw a cel but definately affect idle. There is no way around replacing that part. What it essentially does is allow extra air into the intake manifold until the car warms up. Then hot coolant closes off the flow of air.

What you broke is the "Intake Air Bypass Control Thermal Valve." Not the "Idle Air Control Valve."
The intake bypass valve sends air to the injectors. The Helms is your friend.
