Default Heat Stroke

Thats what my friend calls the effect that the "i-vtec" intake manifold cover produces.
Locks in the heat and warms the air that the manifold takes in, to reduce this effect he told me to remove it. Is this partially true ??

I highly doubt Honda would engineer a part such as the cover without it being necessary

I think you should punch your friend in the face on my behalf, and punch yourself in the babymaker for believing him!

this is why I asked, because I have seen that alot of rsx owners that remove this cover, usually have their car modified. It was just a question, I slapped him on the back of the neck if it helps but thanks for your thoughts.

The cover is just for cosmetics to make the engine bay look pretty. It's plastic, I don't see how its going to "trap" heat over the intake manifold. You aren't going to see ANY performance results from removing it. It's just a matter of personal preference, whichever you think looks better.

like I said before, Honda thinks things through, they don't manufacture pointless parts.

It's not a functional part, it's just cosmetic. Don't believe me? Take a temp gun to your intake mani with the cover in place and with the cover off. Guarantee you won't see any variable in temperature.

People take that cover off because some intakes won't allow it to be there without modification, and some just like the look without.

Personally, I think it makes the engine bay more attractive. And it's easy to remove if I need access to anything.

As said, if you're worried about heat, get a Hondata IMG.

And you mean 'heat soak', not 'heat stroke'.

You guys do realize that the EM2 is basically the same chassis as the Ep3/RSX, right? There is a reason the suspension is 95% the same and you can interchange front strut bars. That and the K drops right in.
