Default can't get the axle back in

I removed the transmission from an EP to do the clutch, and got almost everything put back together except for the driver's side axle. I can't get it in all the way for the life of me, and i'm out of ideas. Suggestions?

Turn the axel slowly and push in as you go along.
You may get lucky and it will go in after a few tries or you could be doing this for an hour or so.

I've had both incidents happen to me before.
Patience is the key.

I got it eventually. I just wasn't confident enough to shove it in there I guess. I was pushing hard, but I just had to remove it all the way, feel it line up a little, and jam it in.
