Sorry dude forgot to say I live in a somewhat rural part of New Jersey, and my parents have a second car (08 subaru impreza) that I could use when it snows. The only places this car would get driven would be to school, work and to get food out on occasion. I wont be making any cross country trips lol.

Re: Using an NSX as a daily driver..
ive been driving my 3000gt vr4 there for about a year now, and it is fully restored, bright red, and in mint condition, and I have never had it vandalized. A kid even drives a Lamborghini Gallardo to school and it doesnt get touched. In my area nobody messes with each others cars (unless its a pissed off ex girlfriend lol) so I think I would be fine. There are also PLENTY of nice cars at my school, so I dont think I would be singled out.

I already work full time at a scientific instruments company, and I go to school full time. I cant really buy a house right now since i am only 19, but I have already a bunch of money set aside for a nice downpayment on a house. Just looking to have a fun car as a daily driver at this point, instead of my 2002 si.
wanna sell it?

Parental money possibly but Im not quick to judge anymore, depends on peoples circumstances I guess. First look at me Im sure people get that same impression. I was 21 when I bought my NSX but I have worked my *** off for what I have and started my career at a much earlier age than most. I skipped the irresponsible lifestyle last years of high school and made good decisions which gave me a head start I think. Thats without any hand outs by the way for the haters and my parents dont have money lol

forcefed I am in the same boat as you, feels good to have a level head at a young age but it was kind of painful to watch all my friends throw their lives away with drugs and partying. they all wondered why I put all my money into toys but now some of them are slowly getting it.
to be on topic, well you can daily drive literally any car, it depends what sort of comfort level you are looking for. If you don't abuse the car ie treat it with respect, keep up with maintenance, and be extra mindful of people who dont know what they're doing on the road then the car won't really give you any problems that any other car wouldnt give. would need to be a little extra careful with parking it too of course.
The "daily driver" aspect doesnt really increase any risks associated with owning/driving a nice car, but since your using it more the opportunities for bad things to happen will come up more often. I say do it!
edit: it must be nice to go to a safe school, at my school, which is supposed to be one of the better ones, you can't have anything nice. people somewhat frequently go through the parking lots randomly keying everyones **** or smashing windows to look through the inside. This happens in the middle of the day when there are people all around, all the kids going there are too chicken **** to confront a criminal and for some reason all the people who work there are only interested in handing out parking tickets. I've found it to be much safer to park off campus in a higher class neighborhood and walk in. the lack of respect that is widespread in my city disgusts me

Re: Using an NSX as a daily driver..
hmmm..must be nice. Did you get the car yet?
I would have personally chosen the S2000 because it would be a newer car, with possibly less mileage and easier/cheaper to maintain & repair than the NSX would. How about a 350z..now thats a fun car for the money

Re: Using an NSX as a daily driver..
I have never personally owned a NSX, but have owned a few cars that were daily drivers that fit into the genre of cars that "attract unwanted attention". You have to be very careful about everything...Where you park it, insuring it, other drivers that drive $500 cars that just dont care...the list goes on.
Start with parking. if you park on the street, ill give it a week before someone taps it trying to parallel park. theres $500 repainting the bumper cover. Leaving it on the street leaves it vulnerable to passer-byers. youve already attracted attention from the outside, people are gonna have a look at whats on the inside for grabs. I had my m3 broken into enough times to get full glass coverage on my insurance bc it just wasnt worth dropping $300 a pop bc some scumbag wanted something inside it. Add another 2+g for an alarm worth a damn.
Off to insurance... you seem like a fairly responsible person, as you work full time, are a student, and putting away money for a house. as much as i can commend you on that, your insurance company doesnt give a sh*t. As far as they see, youre a 19 year old with a sports car with a top speed of over 150mph and youre gonna drive it like an asshat. Go ahead and add another $2000+ per year.
Regular maintenance. any tire made in a 275/18 isnt cheap, nor is it likely to find a tire thats gonna last. if its made to fit a sports car, its gonna be built for a sports car (soft, doesnt last). go ahead and add another $2g every 30k miles.
As you can see, the low price off the bat is gonna add up quickly. you own a 300gt so you probably already know everything I just said, but its definately something to take into consideration. either way, good luck with everything! even if its expensive, its gonna be fun as hell! I wish I could have afforded a nice car when I was 19

Re: Using an NSX as a daily driver..
My insurance is 140$ for full coverage. I dont park mine on the street though, I have a garage which is a must. I park it pretty much all over town though when Im running errands. Its just a car, if someone stole it, my insurance will pay me for another one, oh well lol.
