Default When my A/C's on, my RPM drops so low that it's about to die around 500 rpm, HELP.

When the car is in idle it will stay around 850 rpm and when I turn on the A/C the RPM drops to almost 500 rpm and the whole car will be shaking like it's about to die. What do you think is the problem?

I have the AEM pulleys.

I think it might be because the A/C belts on too tight, would this be the problem?

Thank you guys for the help!

Same here, mine doesn't go below indicated 800 rpm and actually jumps up a bit when the compressor kicks on to compensate.

I was thinking the same thing. Seemed kinda normal, especially when you first kick it on. That's when it seems to take the biggest drop.

With the AEM alternator pulley you're not making as much electrical juice, which may be an issue at idle since there's an increased load when running the A/C (fans).

word

If he turned up his idle to compensate ? ? ? ?

That's why I went with UR, those pulleys underdrive less. Also if you have the AEM acces. pulleys you can't stick in a crank pulley (which is where the biggest power gain is to be had).

In conclusion AEM pulleys =

Damn, now I got to sell the AEM pulleys for the Main Crank pulley. Thank you guys for the advice.

Our pulleys are 0 gram balanced which is identical to the OE Honda
crank pulley and better than the crank pulleys of other car manufacturers
that are usually 2-5 grams out of balance. Our pulleys have been on the
market since 1997 and we have never had a customer have any problems because
of the crank pulley.
Be careful what you believe because a brand says or does, doesn't do
something. A great example is that AEM underdrives way too much with their
accessory pulleys, 35+%, which causes voltage problems and p/s issues but
they still make them. Our pulleys underdrive less than 20% because our big
HP gains come from weight reduction versus the OE pulleys especially the
crank pulley.

Hello again....

I've been talkin to some friends on Honda-Tech and they warned be that the
UR crank pulley will eventually kill my motor by unbalance, is there any
truth to this? and will UR pay for any engine damage as a result of it's
crank pulley causing it? Why I believe that there is truth to this is
because AEM does not make a crank pulley....

thanks again. Jon

Who did you speak to at JRP?

Absolutely not compatible unless you want your battery to go dead or blow
weak a/c or lose p/s pressure.

The alternator should retail for $61.50 US and the power steering for $86.00
US.

Sorry I don't know the current conversion to CDN.

I see, I was told that it could be done by JRP (Johnson's Racing and
Performance). You are sure that the parts are not compatible? What are the
prices for the lightweight acces. pulleys in CAD dollars shipped if
possible?

thanks. Jon

You cannot use AEM's accessory pulleys with our crank pulley because AEM
already underdrives too much 35-40%. Our crank pulley alone will yield 5-6
times the power you would see by using their accessory pulleys, if you want
accessory pulleys we offer them and they are stock diameter. We do all the
underdriving from the crank pulley. If you have any other questions please
let me know.

Hey,

I have part #020610902 (underdrive crank pulley for a type r). I recently
purchased the AEM pulley set part #23-7014 (alt. and A/C pulleys for a tyep
r). What are the correct belt lengths?

Thanks,
Jon
