VTEC problems

Re: V-tech problems (HCIntegra)
i agree with nautica and EJ1, on both subjects, it IS standard to flame ne1 who mispells vtec, and secondly how long has this problem been going and is the cel light STILL on? cuz like nautica said, there could be so many things wrong just because the light is on BUT you can pretty much outlaw any idea of the problems with mods i think =/ but yea keep us posted i might look into it if its still going

Ok back on subject....
Sounds like your running an LS ECU. Have you ever hit VTEC in this car b4? You said you just bought the car, someone could have pulled some shady crap on you.
If your running an LS ECU on a Vtec motor there will be no CEL for Vtec b/c the ECU isnt' checking for those sensors. But the fuel cut off is some where around like 7500rpm...something like that i remeber it was low as hell.
P06=Single cam NONvtec
P28=Single cam Vtec
P72=GSR
P73=Type R
P75=LS
Other than that do the normal "my vtec don't work" procedure.

well I doubt he is using an LS ecu, just for the simple fact that the cel will automatically cause no vtec, and a limited redline. Which sems more plausible right? I don't think the OP is here anymore. Guess the mod is feeling moody, basically cut out every flame comment.
Flaming is traditional on H-T especially about vtech phones... remember the massive thread when some guy asked about a ported.... ahh forget it, I don't want to lose another point!

Re: (SKYLINE GT)
take the valve cover off and check on the right side of the head. if it's a b18c head it should have these two small oil orphises(however you spell it). if its a b16 head it will have one. these orphises go down inside their own individual holes inside this long hollow rod that each of your rockerarms connect to. this rod stretches to the other side to where your vtec solenoid is. this is what allows yur vtec to have the right amount of oil pressure. i hope i'm explanatory enough. if that head had work done to it this is a possible problem that the rod wasn't pushed back far enough to line up correctly with your rocker arms and oil orphises. this is why my vtec wouldn't kick in on my r after i had swap my stock head out with my built b16 head. also check for two small dial pins in the center on the top of the head. vtec solenoids don't just go bad very often not unless its real old. hope that was helpful enough

I highly doubt that he has some sort of swapped motor, given the fact that a simple CEL came on and he didn't even know how to diagnose for that. I don't understand people who want to get into cars but kno nothing about them...they buy a Type R and think, oh it's japanese, I'll never have any problems, and when it does they don't have one clue about it.
please delete this thread and it's entire worthlessness

Amazing, you were born with that knowledge? Kudos!

Re: V-tech problems (get RIGHT)
Without your pulling CEL's, I would guess VTEC oil pressure switch and your spark plug wires/ignition. With my personal experiences not exceeding a particular RPM, I have found that it was (in the past) spark plug wires being faulty.
Good luck.
BTW, its Honda-Tech, you need a little thicker skin than that.

Re: (LAO)
tru enough, but still remember how good japanese cars run when theyre run by japanese mechanics, here we're best known for muscle cars cuz that all america's good at. straight muscle, not caring about the handling which is why the best cars are actually japanese. and all in all i say i would travel to tokyo to race given the chance wouldnt ya agree?
