I've got a new OEM clutch kit on the way and have never performed a clutch install. I'm usually very resourseful when it comes to searching the archived posts, but I can't find a good write up on the procedure start to finish with a few pictures.

I'm sure there's probably a write-up online somewhere, but I would strongly recommend stopping by your local auto parts store and picking up an inexpensive Haynes or Chilton repair manual. Not only will it be very helpful for this project, but you'll most likely get lots of use out of it in the future as well. Obviously, these manuals are not as comprehensive as a Helm, but they're still great resources for the money.

I'm so tempted to do this after finding out that my folks are going to the coast all week and the have an extra "loaner" Jeep Cherokee.

It's not terribly difficult, just a bit time-consuming, especially if it's the first one you've done. Other than the manuals (which really contain all the info you'll need to do the replacement), the only other thing I'd suggest is having at least one friend who can help you out, because pulling the transmission alone won't be very fun.

No kidding. Just buy the factory service manual (the one published by Helm). If you plan on working on your car, it's a small investment that will pay you back many times over. You can buy it here.

All of their writeups are full proof! At least the ones I've followed. I cant thank them enough for holding their article section.

I used that exact write up for my first clutch and flywheel replacement and it worked out great. Just a suggestion if you do follow the write up. Do take off the drivers side axel. Itll save you a lot of trouble getting the housing on and off.

You dont need to remove the axles, just leave them in the hub and pull them out of the case/jackshaft and push them out of the way
