Default PLEASE HELP! Need some help putting back my AC and PS.

Hi All,

I just got a quote from a repair shop to put back my ac and ps for $8000 for labor and parts. Seems a little high. Anyways, I have decided to do it myself. I have all the major components but don't know how to put it together as I have not done this before. Does anyone have a source for a "how to" on putting in a ac system and power steering system into a type r? I live in San Diego and need to hook up with you type r owners out here so I can get some expert advise about my car. PLEASE HELP!

Thanks Everyone!
P

$8000? WTF run away from that place.

Try to find a service manual or Helms, it will walk you through it.

That's what I was thinking! Find a local and DIY. Save $7500, lol.

kind of off topic but, has anyone added AC to a 97/98 that didn't come with it? Is everything behind the dash there and I just need to do the under hood stuff?

If your car didn't come with AC, then there is nothing behind the dash. You will need the entire evaporator box assembly with pipes, expansion valve & thermo-sensor. You will also need the AC firewall grommet. It should simply bolt right in place of the plastic large square plastic duct behind the glove box. I'm not sure if the dash harness has the plug for the thermo-sensor if that is part of the AC system harness that comes with the AC kit.

You will also need the button for the AC switch on heater control if yours has a block-off cover.

All cars do have the three prong plug for the thermostatic expansion valve, and all cars have the harness plug for the diode already there, no wiring is needed, just plug it all in.
The AC button just pops off with a bit of force as well.

You do not have to remove the dash, only the glovebox, to install the evaporator housing.
