My car won't start. Could it be my clifford?
yesterday i tried staring my car, but it could not start. The engine does not turn over. I check the battery and the battery is good. I check the starter, the starter is good too. The only 2 things left for me the check is the ignition and the Clifford alarm. The car will start is i push start it by popping the clutch but with the key nothing happens. Occasionally a licking noise coming form the fuse box under the hood. What do you think? How can i test to see if it's the ignition? or the Clifford? Any body has this problem with their alarm affecting the car?
(I got it fixed guys it was the upper clutch switch.)

Seems to me that we had a similiar situation at Expo this year, perhaps someone that knows a little more about what happened could chime in.

Maybe that happened to another person, but it also happened to me @ expo when the relay was tripped and the remote was dead. However, I cannot offer any advice as it would compromise the security of my R.

If you can narrow your problems down to your alarm being the culprit I would suggest you bring it back to the installer.
Cliffords are no fun to play with.
From the sounds of it, it seems as though your problem may be the immobilizer that Clifford offers. If you have it chances are that's the problem.

wow I'm surprise it has happen to so many people. I was really lucky it was at my house. Tomorrow I'll clean the battery wire. How will i know if they need to be replace? I will call the guys who installed my Clifford on Monday, and let you know if that was the problem. Maybe I'll be able to help someone else in the future. If it's the ignition ( the part you put the key in) How do i test for that? Is it hard to change. Thanks for the feedback's.

You especially, living in florida! If all your getting is just clicking or just one click and then it doesnt start it will most likely be that battery wire, like I said before.

hey I'm willing to try the battery wire tomorrow. Which battery wire do i replace? Neg. or positive? Where can i get the battery wire? is it hard to replace? When i turn the key i don't get any click to the starter, the click i hear is coming from the fuse box under the hood. I don't know if this help but what i did or if it eliminate the battery wire i got a wire and i put it on the the big nut on the starter (the one that come from the positive part of the battery) and put the other end or the wire to the small wire on the starter and the engine turn over. So would that basically eliminate the battery wire?

True there opie, but being a trained DEI installer makes it all much simpler(sp?).
My advice to you, as what others have said, do you get ignition? IE: warning lights, CEL, brake, and all that good stuff? If not, then it's a power problem in the car somewhere.
If you get all the above, and it won't turn over, two things to check and actually more to list:
1) starter (rarely happens on hondas)
2) starter kill (most likely)
Solution: you can take it back to the installer, or just find your starter wire on the ignition column, trace it to where you find a thick 10 gauge wire, and the colors will be green and purple. The wire for the starter has slipped my mind, but try twisting this two wires together and see if you can start the car.
If you can, the brain is either not grounded, a blown fuse on the brain 12v, or the brain's internal relays on the relay satellite is bad. This is also unlikely.
Just check the starter wires themselves and report back.

Can i use a B18c1 or a b16a2 starter on a JDM itr? I think it could work, but would it strip the flywheel.

It is not the alarm, the starter, or the battery. If it was the alarm you would not be able to push start it same with the starter. Hey realis9, when you get a chance pm me and I will tell what you should check and where. This is a common problem with swaps. Is it obd 1. Let me know

food for thought, if u have a kill starter.....the relay possibly could have come out of the socket making the starter wire basically cut in half and the relay not letting it bypass cause its not connected....just another thing for you to check

Re: (BrandonClaps)
o.k i found out what the problem was. It was the clutch switch. I brought it to my Friend at acura. He use a jumper and the car started without him even pressing the clutch down. So for a them fix I'm driving my car with a little jumper wire and i don't need the clutch to start the car. Maybe i should leave it there and use it has a kill switch device just take it out when i leave my car. So he said it was the upper clutch switch the yellow one. i didn't even know that there was such a thing and that it could go bad. Thank you everyone for your suggestion i tried all of them. I hope this can help other members. How hard is it to change the upper clutch switch?
