Default Jacksonville, FL - a good place to live (for type R's)?

Kicking around ideas re: moving.

What's that area like?

Pro's/ Con's?

Skateboard friendly?

type R friendly? (we have 2.5 in our household)

reputable shops/ dyno's nearby?

etc?

What's that area like? Nice city, huge (largest city in landmass in the U.S.) houses are New: 100-150$ a sq ft. preowned homes: 70-150$ a sq ft. Property with no improvements runs at about 2$ a sq ft. Beach/waterfront is not even worth discussing. The weather comment is BS, mostly nice year round. raining today, but nice. rivers to ski in/boat in. Beaches to goto, surf at. Stones throw to Gator games and Seminole games during football season + the Jags for pro games. Tons o bars and nightlife. lots of bars to listen to reggea on the weekends. Tons o rednecks. Not as many bluehairs as south florida. The worst redlight running group of drivers I have ever seen, average of 5-6 cars through the reds during rush hour. Tons of 2 lane back roads to tool on the weekends.

Pro's/ Con's? listed above

Skateboard friendly? Kona-huge skate park located here. Half pipes, full bowls, the works.

type R friendly? (we have 2.5 in our household) there are about 8 around town including mine

reputable shops/ dyno's nearby? Subaru of JAx has a 4 wheel dyno pac, Mase(HT) tunes cars at velocity trends on a dynojet. Stage 6 is another shop on the west side of town with some good guys at it (no dyno). Jax raceway has saturday night run what you brung on an 1/8th mile, gainesville raceway has the same (1 hr drive) on a 1/4 mile strip + a mini road course.

etc: AutoX group is bucanneer region, races out at whitehouse airfield every month of the year. Also hosting SE Divisional in march. Steetraces with Ricers on the westside on staurday night. Gaye, but if you like that sort of stupidity it is there. Traffic doesnt suck too bad. I can get almost anywhere in town from anywhere in 30min or less, any time of day. just about every resteraunt is here or coming to town. 3 huge malls and they are building another now.

hell yeah! jax getting better than it used to be. we came out here when i was 1 1/2 and been here since. about 15 years ago atlantic used to be one lane on each side i believe (i might be a little too young to remember) and now its three. hahaha we actually super bowl here but that just overcrowded everything. true about the red light runners. i do it too and i still get mad when other people do it in front of me hahaha. i only know about two dynos down here. the one at velocity trends and one somewhere on lenox avenue. we're sorta over run by ricers but just bring your type-Rs down here and start stompin on em. we have a bunch of shops here that are great (shouts out to velocity trends and 5th gear). there's a prelude that was on the cover of honda-tuning in january or february that was built in the shops here in jax but i don't think the guy lives here. we need more fast cars though. need more competition. we even got some fast ricers. theres a guy from my hood with a riced out accord and i was surprised to see the big *** intercooler in his front bumper. theres a few meets and a couple guys from H-T even got a permit to meet at the Bealls outlet parking lot behind the Regency Mall on Saturday nights. just watch out for cops. some days you never see em around and probably at least once every two weeks they seem like they're trying to fill in their quotas and they're everywhere even with speed traps.

enough ranting damn...

well overall jax is getting better.

i consider it ok since i don't live there...just outside jax. you got the beach also which is nice. for skateparks, there is the legendary kona (pool, big vert, big street course, snakes, bowls, mini spine), and there is also st. augustine concrete park (really fun and good for broken bones ), and there is also emerson (free little park). lots of street and transitions and you'll see lots of rippers and pro's around like mike peterson, clyde singleton, tim johnson...cairo foster used to tear **** up here. i'd rather be in atlanta...and hopefully i land this job at cartoon network. if you haven't been here, visit and see if you like it. i don't go to any of the shops there. few dynos there. mase is close by for tuning.

It's still florida, try living in Norther NJ Your type R would never be safe, it's cold as hell, and people here are caught in a miserable rat race Different way of life down there. I would make the best of it
1. Visit the Florida Keys, Miami, Tampa, ect.
2. Best fishing
I visit FL 2-3 times a year and love it. Keys are really nice. Fished down there, snorkled in the coral reefs, Kayacked. Came back to Jersey and was just like dam! It's just not fair Jersey

South Florida is def a good place to live. I live in Boca Raton and its awesome. The only drawback is property is getting expensive and that it is heavens waiting room. Besides that, hot babes, nice beaches, perfect roads, tons of entertainment (west palm to south beach)
